Combat Mission: Battle For Normandy
« on: June 08, 2011, 12:02:49 PM »
The successor to what were arguably the greatest WW2 tactical scale wargames ever made
has been released; Combat Mission: Battle For Normandy.

My copy is on the way. Right now I'm playing the demo and doing it PBEM; enjoying the hell
out of myself while trying to punch my way through bocage.
If you've done the earlier versions, Combat Mission Beyond Overlord and/or Combat Mission
Beyond Barbarossa, you'll most assuredly want to get this one. It's an entirely new engine. :)
There's a demo availlable for DL as well to give you an idea what it's like, lookin' like, and
how it plays out. (Manual in PDF file in the installation folder; you'll need it.)
If you want even more info on it, hit the CMBN forum on the Battlefront website. There's
a pretty sweet "screenshots" thread in there as well.

Bought it a couple weeks ago, have it sitting on my desk...  Waiting for a few free hours to install it.  Looking forward to it greatly!

Dave,
It's gonna take me at least a week, once I get it in-hand to get a decent handle on the
game mechanics/interface. While it's similar to CMBO and CMBB, there's a LOT of
differences, especially with artillery.
Once you get settled in with it, gimme a holler if you want to PBEM somethin'.  We can make
a "battle report" thread in here outlining our (mis)adventures with it.  :D

I am going to buy it, I fit within the Min requirements.  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Will do!  But it might be mid July before my schedule is slack enough to devote any time to it.  I barely get any Aces High time as it is right now.

Here's the basics of what I'm running. It's handling the demo fine.
Have you played Battlefront's first one: "Combat Mission Beyond Overlord"?
I've been wargaming on the PC for over ten years now and CMBO is by far
the one I've most enjoyed of them all.  At least that holds true until I get
my hands on the full version of CMBN. ;)
