Missing Microsoft GSM610 8k codec
« on: June 11, 2011, 02:07:44 PM »
Since last week everytime I try to use the mic for a voice transmission I get the message: Missing Microsoft GSM610 8k codec.
I am also not hearing anybody on voice, either range or squad.  What can I do?

Well you could have googled that and found this! - Are you using XP ?

EDIT:
I would just check that your windows is up to date first via the Microsoft update site, include any drivers. If you still have a problem then consider the link above.

had this problem with Dadrabit's machine.   For some bizarre reason your version of windows doesn't have these sound codecs that should be with the default install.

It is fairly easy to add them,   windows update could do it or do a search on Microsoft's  website for them.

Bizarre.  Those CODEC's are part of the default Windows XP installation.  Somehow they have been removed from the computer.  Maybe a Windows install repair is in order?

I got Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, dunno what happened with the codec because I have it doing the updates automatically. Thanks for the advice I will check the Micrsoft Website for updates and to get a fix.
