More control options for analog controls.

So I logged on last night for the first time in about a month, updated my version (twice) and started playing around with the new analog input controls.  I run a X52 but have a dissected AV8R that I use also.  I decided to map my gear to one of the extra throttle controls.  I simply mapped the 'raise/lower gear' function to my min and max inputs and left my middle empty.  I played with it and got it to work fine,  push it down when I want gear down, up when I want gear up.  The flaw in my plan was quickly exposed... I got shot down.  I re-spawned, took-off, and realized my gear level had now been reversed.  A quick simple fix, or quickly reset the control before flight, but it gave me the idea.

I don't have AH on this computer and after reading the "dump flaps" thread, I'm worried I missed these functions yesterday; correct me if these are already available in-game.

Instead of just being able to map the control 'raise/lower gear,' add a 'gear down' and 'gear up' command.  You'd end up with 3 gear commands, the regular 'toggle landing gear' and a raise and lower function independent of each other.

A similar function could be applied to flap control, though it would pose more problems with different flap settings.  A 'flaps fully retracted' and a 'flaps fully extended' make sense, could even map a mid flaps, or find a system to allow for different settings on an analog input (i.e. If aircraft has 3 notches of flaps, then input button 4 = full flaps).

Those are the two that stood out to me.

I understand what you are asking.  However, you are able to do much of this through the Saitek SST software.  I have an X52 and my flaps are mapped to the little finger wheel on the back of the throttle.

In fact you can get massive functionality by NOT using the Saitek software.

If you bring up the MS game controller window (for the X52) and leave it running in the back ground, AH will recognise every button and wheel (except the Mouse stick) by its DX#.

But AH will not allow 1 button to do more than one function when pressed, SST will.

AH allows 4 functions per button using the 4 modes in setup. You can set 1 button to switch through all 4 modes.

How do you do that? I thought you had to have a different button to select each control mode, I had always wished there was a way to just cycle through control modes with one button but never knew how.  :headscratch:

EDIT: Ah, nvm. I just used my brain a little and figured you could have your mode button in Mode 1 select Mode 2, and have your mode button in Mode 2 select Mode 3, and so on. Stupid, stupid brain, think of this kind of stuff earlier!  :bhead

Still, doesn't negate the fact that through Aces High, you are only able to toggle the gear, rather than have separate gear up and gear down options.  You may have a lot of capability through the SST software, but you are going to be limited by what Aces High allows you to manipulate.

2) Hardware
3) Devices
4) Right-click controller and click Settings
5) Click Properties, leave that window open for full X52 functionality in AH

yes, you can. You can set it so that one direction acts like the "C" key and the other like the "V" key. I use it for my flaps in fighter mode like that.

Can't you map an analog wheel control to the GV range?  I know I have my throttle mapped to GV range in GV mode so I can set sight range with the throttle.
