hd 6850
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:39:37 PM »
If its not one thing its another with me  :lol. Just got a HD 6850 and it runs great but I'm having little graphics anomalies. Smoke from hangers flickers white sometimes but not always.... also fuel drums in hanger flicker a bit. Doesn't effect performance and i figure since its kinda new card future drivers will fix the problem. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem.
UGH.....

I had a lot of graphics anomalies with my new 6970. Little blue squares along edges where 2 things meet (i.e. the wing in F3 view and the sky behind the plane) and some smoke/cloud issues.

I've reduced most of the big bugs with a new driver. These are still in refinement, mind you, and as time goes by naturally they'll get it all sorted. I think I went to 11.5 ATI drivers. They're from early May, so very new!

Check them out, see if they help or not.

Yes, I also have the 11.5 drivers. As you said I'm sure these small things will be ironed out in future drivers. Thank you Krusty.

I sure hope the next drivers help this. Im finding certain planes that have these strange graphics glitches. The f4u1 is the worste so far. It looks like parts of the plane are flashing all over the left side of the wind screen. Some cockpits have little to none of these anomalies but some are worse.... The sun seems to make these problems worse... If 11.6 drivers don't improve this should i post a bug report?
UGH.....

:UPDATE:  Happy to report that amd's 11.6 drivers seem to have fixed ALL issues I was having. The only problem i had was removing the 11.5 drivers... had to use driver sweeper to fully remove them. I read others were having the same problem for anyone using these drivers. I knew they weren't removed properly because my resolution wasn't changing down after removal as well as the terrible performance once the new ones were installed.

Yep, had the same issue when using the ATI Catalyst Driver Manager program to uninstall the 11.5 display driver.......  once it un installed my screen res dropped back to like 800 x 600 from 1920 x 1080... but when the PC was rebooted I was back in 1920 x 1080 res automatically....

what I did to fix this, was I went back in and completely uninstalled all of the ATI Catalyst Manager & all other AMD/ATI drivers............ then it worked properly ( I did not have to use a 3rd party Driver Cleaner program )

then I installed the new 11.6 drivers that are for my OS:  Windows 7 64 bit  ( btw: the new Driver Manager picked up on and noticed to offer all the AMD/ATI drivers I deleted/removed when uninstalling the 11.5 drivers, and other AMD & ATI drivers..... so I just marked the check box of which ones I wanted to include on the fresh install update )

also was having the same abnomallys regarding the f4u-1 and flickering with the 11.5 drivers ( which I got from XFX )..... I downloaded and used the 11.6 drivers from AMD/ATI website.......... all is well and looks better/performs better also  :aok

hope this helps
