Strategic bombing
« on: June 18, 2011, 03:00:18 PM »
I was reading the making holes thread and had an idea.

In addition to bringing back the zone strat game what if there were several different layouts for each type of strat and, as they were destoryed (to say under 50%) and then recovered a new layout would replace the old one.  In addition to that make it so that not all of the objects in the layout are destructable.  This way the bomber pilot woldn't know what objects were or were not able to be destroyed encouraging more use of carpet bombing with larger light load-outs.  It would also slightly reduce milk-running for points as more bombs dropped with lower "kill" percentages would lower points.

I guess new layouts wouldn't be needed, just randomize which objects are desctuctable to keep it unpredictable.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

as long as towns are the same, the milk run of all milk runs will still be the towns at bases. the strats have not been useful for milking bomber score in a long time.

I am all for bringing the strats back up front. It was something else to do. A lot of green pilots practiced and learned to bomb or GV hitting them. They were also a great place to fly a Stuka or something and listen to some tunes and just goof off. Lots of guys now don't even know that the siren comes on in a Stuka if you dive it fast enough because they cant live long enough in it to fly it anywhere.
As far as milk running goes, I say if you don't want to do it, don't do it. Let the other guy do it if he wants, it's something else to do. More things to do is more fun. The more dimensions of play the better. All hording makes Jack a dull boy.

:headscratch:  slayem, slight correction there...no sound pack, no horns of jericho on the stuka.

I use ranger pack and could hear it back when we had factories to bomb. Have not tryed it lately but it sure sounded like the Stuka sound to me in a dive over about 250 mph. I'll try it offline and see.

ya, rangers soundpack has the horns of jericho in it...i'm saying if you're not using a sound pack, i.e. default installation, there is no sound on the stuka.
