Tank Battle enhancement for large encounters
« on: June 23, 2011, 12:23:12 PM »
Just a thought but why not have an option to take out a "Flight" of Tanks (only) much the same way bombers are currently taken out in groups of three. This would greatly enhance the combined firepower and ability to to hit hard targets as well as make for some epic tank battles with only a few combatants per side.

This would be a horrible feature for smaller faster vehicles and create problems with Antiaircraft in clusters so I would limit this feature to Tanks if possible.

uhh... exactly how would you implement this when no armor was used like this unless in maneuvering and attack formations? once an engagement began, armor maneuvered individually and worked tactically together. This seems impossible to do anyways
I am in need of a new epic quote

would be really funny trying to maneuver 2 tank drones thru the trees or in side of the mountain.  imaging the yelling "hey 2trees flipped 2 of my tigers drones"  :rofl

I don't see how it would work unless there was a terrain with a ton of wide open space.

The terrain is a major issue however if you set the drones to operate in a line astern formation while traveling and then move to a Vic formation or line abreast formation while flighting it would be possible and in fact realistic in many cases.

One of the draw backs to Tank combat is travel time to target and then if you get picked off you are back in the hanger before you are even engaged. This would allow you greater ability to stay engaged once you lose a tank or two. It also dramatically improves the ability to destroy targets from the ground.

Instead of having tank engagements that are 5 vs 5 you would then have 15 vs 15. That is a significant improvement in my book to ground warefare in AH IMHO and it has already been done with Bombers.

+1 Great Idea! I like Hot Spawn points to feed my need for instant action. This would let me fight 3X longer!

i like the idea but i disagree with the way you think it should be added for "tanks" only also 3 tanks attacking would be a bit overkill as one Sherman with rockets can de-ack white flag a town and still have about 16 shells left and it only takes approx 6-8 min to do it... 3 tanks would be as bad as a b29 with a nuke or lancs with a tallboy or to have the tiger 1 shot town buildings...it makes more sense for the smaller vehicles to me where u would be attacking in small groups at once or mobile flak units. or something like m3s/jeeps where u would more or less be in a "convoy" but this would be unfair for everything else..because if it didint costs perks to do u could have a lone m3/m8/flak/tiger(cuz it cost perks not likely to be in a "convoy") roll up on 3 parked Sherman's panzer's or t34s... and get 1 shoted because it got hit by 3 shells the "drones" would have to be inaccurate and shoot on there own after you "marked" the target for this to be fair

+1 on the basic idea -1 for the suggested way of putting it to use
