Future x65 mods?
« on: June 21, 2011, 02:04:20 PM »
I didn't take these pictures but saw them and thought about some mods to the x65

There's some warthog extensions guys are making to get the sticks taller to mount the bases on the floor. If the bottom of the x65 is hollow for the most part, then the same can probably be done to the x65. Just figured i'd share what I found on some other sites for those that like to build stuff in their man caves.

I wonder if you would have to go into the config setup on the stick and change the amount of force necessary to effect a change with the movement of the plane using a longer handle. It would be the same as using a lever and fulcrum to move a rock....reduced force just to push it around.

The stick is capable of detecting from less than a pound to 22 pounds so i'm sure it can be made to do what you want it to

Mine is like track ir. Took some time to get used to it. Took some
time to tweak the settings and now can't play without it.

neg G shots was a show stopper for me. Look over nose + shoot + push the stick = fail

I will plug it back some day.

Was curious where you found those pics. I need to add a three inch extension to mine and was waiting for someone to open the box before I tried it.

I was looking around in the contras section or builders section
on simhq.com. There's also pictures of the inside of the throttle.
Ill try and find a link to later tonight. It's from some Russian
website and I used google chrome to view it also.

Track IR is back in its box and will probably be in the classified threads soon. I "fidgit" too much in my chair while flying and keeping it centered on the gunsight is a problem.

I found that I had to make some mods my x65 to more accomodate me. I had to mount it to a plywood base so the stick doesn't slide around thus throwing the pressure sensing off.  I also had to make a shim for the plate that your hand sits on while flying.  Not quite done with mods yet but hope to be putting in some real stick time with it soon.

Yeah I put dead band in the middle of all different axis except the
zoom. I also set a stick button to center. Now my neck doesn't hurt trying to keep still
