V28 spawn
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:38:57 AM »
I am not sure if this belongs in the bug report topic or not but here it goes.  When spawning to the foreword point out of V28 you will sometimes land on top of the hill overlooking the battle.  I can't believe that this is by design.  How aggravating it is to lose it tank most of the time trying to come off the hill and join the battle.  Sometimes you'll spawn on this hill two or three times in a row.  You can at times creep over the edge in order to get your gun in position to fire on the tank below at long range.  Other times if you get to close to the edge of the hill you'll just roll down it.  I amongst others have lost tanks/score spawning on this hill.  I spawned on the hill last night with a tiger and lost my perks because of it.  How do safely get off this damn hill?  There has to be a way.  What am I missing here? If there isn't a way then this must be a flaw in this spawn point and needs to be fixed.  After losing my tiger I just logged off and was done with this game for the evening.

If you want them to look at it you should include what map it was on. Map names usually in upper left corner of map, main arena ones that is.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

He is referring to the Trinity map base v28.  There is a way, you just have to find it.  :noid

Yes I did know about the supplies that will upright you if they're available but the fact that you need supplies when spawning in doesn't seem right.  Sometimes when you slide down that hill upside down you will actually continue sliding across the valley floor and up the opposite hillside or hit the bottom and sit there and spin uncontrollably.  I've tried easing over the edge, hitting it at a run and traversing it at various angles but seem to flip over three out of four times.  Can somebody please clue me in on the proper way to descend this hill?  Come on guys, help a newbie out.  0h By the Way Kilroy, it's a pleasure doing battle with you as you are a tough opponent to defeat.  I've learned a few tactics in our battles.  Thanks.

Go for broke and hope for the best. Sometimes you land sunny side up and sometimes you don't.

I think at that particular spawn I was 50/50 but was charging down the "hill" far enough to the enemy's rear that they conveniently had left supplies to right myself.

If anything, spawning waaay up there can be an advantage that has been whined about in the past.

:salute HossBog. I too have enjoyed the battles, though I am still learning. The v28 to v83 area on the Trinity map is about the best GV fighting area IMHO. Great variety of terrain and spawns just the right distance apart. I have been working on a way to stop on the slope from the mountain you speak of and, when able to get stopped, it is a great perch to shoot from. I had found the spot to drive over the edge from but have since lost it and I'm trying to find it again.

It is fun to shoot from up there and watch the enemy running around trying to find where shots are coming from. I have also hit tanks up there from down below. It is most frustrating to spawn up there with panther or tiger and lose it to fall down the mountain.

:salute again HossBog, I enjoy the battles and it might be interesting to fight on same team sometime.

Happy Hunting

Why would you want to come down? Stay there and shoot them from up there... or go around and shoot at the base from the top of that hill if you follow the ledge.. as well if you follow that ledge you have a sightly safer way to get down AND you are to the enimy tanks rear... or if your up for a real adventure drive all the way around and shoot at any uppers as they spawn from the v-base. All vary fun options.. just watch out for the "tank trap" on your way around... I and others want to be spawned up there as it is different and fun. Try driving around and playing a bit. Eather that or this is just a backhanded complaint cuz someone was killing you from up there and you couldn't figure out that proping yourself up on the hil next to the bridge is the only way to shoot a guy up there.

I wasn't trying to find a way down, just a way to be on downward slope so gun is able to cover the entire area. I had it the spot, but I can't find it now. I enjoy being up on the mountain. It is just very difficult to nose over and then STOP on the steep slope. I want the mountain top spawn to stay at v28 on the trinity map.

Q:Why would you want to come down?
A: to get into the heat the battle down below and to land kills if I'm fortunate enough to get any.

Your statement as quoted above is really off the wall. You did have some good points in your post and now I'll look at that spawn point in a different light.  Thank you.
I really don't mind getting killed, I expect it being new and all.  At this point I feel fortunate if I can get two kills for one death.
thanks for your replies and good advice.  It sounds like this is by design and does have advantages.  I guess I just need to figure it out.  It sounds like it's going to be challenging to consistently land your kills when you get them from up there.  I'll spend some time traveling around up there and exploring the hill. It's truly a unique spawn point.
thanks again for your replies

Well if you get enough kills and want to land them you have 3 options. If you are just slightly tilted you may be able to back up then follow the mt. Back to base.. or you can wait until the bad guys leave and spawn out. Or you roll down the hill hoping to not roll at the bottom. If so have a countryman (or squad mate) there with supplies if you d roll. A little know fact is that a gv can successfully land anyplace on the map. As long as there are no bad guys withing 6.5k or so... so what I would do at that spawn or any other for that matter would be to haul arse away from the battle for as long as you can stand to drive. If you have a hill to go down that helps. Come to a FULL STOP. Then tower out. I have done a lot of killing on fields then run away to the middle of no please to tower successfully. That's how you see the guys with massive spawn camping kills land them when they are no ware close to there home base.
