I still don't get it, I've been flamed in other threads and it made sense.  In this one, I said in so many words, "I used to be good at public speaking, now I suck, any ideas?".  I guess I boasted.

I think my point was that when intelligent, well read individuals speak, they need to guard against projecting an air of intellectual superiority as that can be a turn off.

Whether that applies in your case, I cannot say.

Because you are trying way too hard to prove how smart and mature you are.  You also come off as a self-absorbed know-it-all.  You may be smarter than the average bear, but quit going out of your way to convince everyone of that.  Your posts seemed forced, like you are trying to project yourself as more than you really are.  I apologize for the harshness, but sugar coating it won't help you.  Stop trying to impress people.
