"Fear Nothing"- a God of War 3 review!
« on: July 02, 2011, 09:15:51 PM »
In the end, there will only be chaos! -Kratos

God of war 3 is the last of the God Of War Trilogy. The God of War game series is based loosely off Greek mythology, and follows the Spartan Warrior Kratos. From his rise to being a god, to his fall to the underworld, and his climb back up. All for vengence against the gods he feels has betrayed him. The series stars many of the prominent Greek charectors. From the minotaur to Zeus himself. From medussa to The Sisters Of Fate. They are all in the game, and Kratos doesnt like any of them. God of War 3 has one prominent message: Everything Dies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Before the age of the twilight set upon the Gods, a legend rose to take his place among them. And even though Kratos sat on the throne as the new God of War, he was haunted by visions of his family, a family he himself murdered. But the hands of death could not defeat him, the sisters of fate could not control him, and on this day, the man, the legend, Kratos, will have his revenge." - Gaia
STORYLINE
God of War 2 left us with one of the biggest clift-hangers in video game history, Kratos, using the powers of the sisters of fate, had went back in time, to retrieve the titans, and bring them back to his own era.
As Zeus sat on his throne atop mt Olympus, discussing them uniting together to stop Kratos. He was interupting by an earthquake shaking through the mountain. As the gods steped outside, They discovered the cause: Kratos had succeded. The titans had appeared in there era, and were Scaling Olympus to wage war upon the gods. and ontop of the titan Gaia stood Kratos, proclaiming to his father Zeus: "Zues! your son has returned! i bring with me the destruction of Olympus!".

God of War 3 picks up exactly after that scene. The titans scaling Mt Olympus. Engaging in Battle with the gods. With Kratos still as hungry for vengence as ever.

The storyline focuses on his destruction of MT Olympus. Along the way he encounters and battles with many of the gods (Poseiden, Helios, Hermies, Hera, Aphrodites and Hades).
His adventures take him from the Underworld, to the Very top of MT Olympus, to The Labyrinth in search of Pandora herself.
With each battle fought, and each God slaughtered by Kratos, Humanity is shown to be the worse to suffer from his actions (example: when Kratos kills Poseiden, it causes the oceans to rise, swallowing all of greece).
Through the storyline, Kratos will be his typical anti-hero self. Not caring about the suffering of others, only caring for his own revenge. Until the very end. When he makes the Ultimate sacrifice so Humanity may never be slaves to the gods again.

"The hands of death could not defeat me, the Sisters of Fate could not hold me, and YOU will not see the end of this day! I WILL have my revenge!!"-Kratos.
GAMEPLAY
Kratos sums up the atmosphere in GOW3 perfectly: Chaos. You will always ether be killing something, or destroying something.Let me give you an example.
After the opening scene, of the titans climbing Olympus, the first boss you fight is Posieden himself, and his Hippocampi within 5 minutes into the game. The battle takes place ontop of the Titan Gaia as she scales Mt Olympus.
Kratos is not sudtle with the way he kills ether.  If he is not Bashing Poseidens head open against a rock then He's ripping the Legs off of Hermes to take his boots.
His scene of him ripping Helio's head off to use as a flashlight is rated the second most graphic kill in video game history.
But other than gods, the world is filled with many other opponents. Centaurs,Harpes,Satys, Gorgans,Feral hounds, Scorpions, and sirens are some, to name a few.
God of War 3 also contains one of the biggest Boss battles in gaming history: the fight with Cronos. the king of the titans himself, and Zeus father.

Cronos is HUGE. To put it into suspective of how big he is compared to Kratos, Imagine the size of an ant compared to a Human. Yes, he is that big.

You will also fight Hercules,Scorpios, Hephestaus, and many other gods.
Which leads up to the final Boss: Zeus himself.
The gameplay in God Of War 3 won Kratos the titlel of "biggest badarse of 2010" by Spike video game awards.

GRAPHICS
At the time of release, God of War 3 was the best looking game to come out. Even a year later, it still looks stunning.
Each fight, each scene, being a cinematic masterpiece. From the opening scene of the titans climbing Mt Olympus to the Fight with Zeus your eyes will be stunned by the visual splender of chaos taking place on the screen.
God Of War 3 won "best graphics" by Spike video game awards.
---------------------------------------------------------------
SOUNDS
The music of GOW3 truly adds to the atmosphere. From the haunting chorus as you enter the underworld, to "the end begins" plays as you kill Zeus, you will find the GOW series has some of the best scores in video game history.

God of War 3 one "best score" by Spike video game awards.
------------------------------------------------------------
OVERALL
From begining to end, GOW3 is a cinematic masterpiece of chaos, filled with blood and death in true Greek legend. If you like violence, than there is no better game for you than this series.
