Need I say more?

Personally I use the "LB Photo Realism" texture pack. It comes in 64x64, 128x128, and 256x256 flavors.

Have you thought of making a mob farmer? They do take a while to make, but are well worth it if you want lots of gunpowder, string, bones, arrows, and feathers.

I've used a 64x64 pack before. Looks nice, but I prefer the regular 16x16 that minecraft was made for. Painterly Texture Pack is by far my favorite for keeping the 16x16 and still having very nice textures.  :)

I have thought about making a mob tower, and I also know that good ones are rather huge.  As for texture packs, the NOW MOD came with Painterly, and I was happy with it (since DokuCraft wasn't made for the NOW MOD which had SEVERAL other items in it, like Airships and Explosive Arrows :devil).  But if DokuCraft was available with the NOW MOD, I would've used it over Painterly.

I've actually been considering renting a server, if anyone is interested let me know. It will probably be a 4-8 player.

Depending on the Host you may not want a 4-8.  When Airflyer and I were looking it seemed to get the best deal was to spend more on a ~16 player server.  Typically that is the 1GB rented server, and is the recommended for MC Servers.  It's why he pays so much for just 3 of us, runs nicely. :P

I'd seriously consider a subscription fee if I could get access to a good stable server with people who have microphones and and some sort of chat program. I don't know about $15/month like we have for AH, but anything less than that that would put a fair dent in the owner's upkeep costs would be great.

I always preferred playing the game online because I liked how I could see other people's work and be able to cooperate with them on large projects, and I never had any motivation to try to build something cool if someone else couldn't ogle it while I check out their stuff too.

I feel the same, it's the main reason I've been considering a server but I don't know many people that play.

We use Servercraft.
If you wish, Airflyer doesn't seem to mind more users on ours. Not giving that information out in the open though, don't need greifers. If someone's interested use PM. :)

How does he run the server?  Are MODs used or is it straight server?  Is the use of the /give commands very rare or used often?  If it is MOD free and the use of the /give command none to extremely rare (depending), I would not mind taking a look if you all do not mind.  I do not have any MODs for MC at this time.  The only MODs I was using came with the NOW MOD Pack for 1.6.6, but I have not bothered to update it since 1.7 (if they have updated it that is.  Haven't checked.).

Sending a PM, if only to peek in and see how my performance would be on it and if the settings are to my taste.

Having a bit of fun in the server.  17 and I got a basic port established for a new town and he's started on something above the port.  Our good friend Creeper made it's usual appearance too... :bhead

Hah, I stepped outside during the rain, admiring the effects that I've never seen before, turn right- BOOM! I retread inside and next time I peek out another one sees me and chases me all the way inside and almost wrecks the train station!  :uhoh

All I have accomplished so far is falling in lava ... twice.  I know I shouldn't dig straight down but its so much faster when your trying to get to bedrock.

Dig in a 2x2 column straight down. Meaning you make more or less a spiral staircase to hell.
Allows you to destroy the next layer down without falling through  :aok
