A way to shut off local VOX at times
« on: July 14, 2011, 12:50:38 AM »
Seems like local VOX can get saturated at times and no one hears anything, or all they hear is a couple guys having a conversation going on while the fight is on.  I enjoy that for the most part, but it can get in the way when it's a sea of red and green.

It would be nice to turn it off and rely on the old check 6 button while being able to hear guys on Squad VOX or a specific channel.

Is there a way to do this I don't know of?  Or could it be something we could get in the future?

It has been wished a lot and I'd like to see it too. So far such a mute feature hasn't been implemented.

If your squaddies are getting stamped on by local get vent, can you turn down the vox completely in the settings ie volume?

I've +1'd this wish before, but I think the best you can do currently is ".vsquelch all"... I think you can do that right? Than then unsquelch your squaddies. Sounds like a pain, I know.

If anything, I wouldn't mind having a volume toggle on Range VOX. Essentially working the same way as Zoom Toggle, you adjust two different preferred volumes of the Range channel and toggle between them as you wish. But that still doesn't solve the way VOX transmissions can get clogged up and you can hear a check-six from your wingman 4 seconds late sometimes.

If you value communication at all you've got to get TS or Vent, imo. I have my in-game voice volume turned down a little bit and my TS cranked up, I can mute TS for a second if I really need to hear someone on VOX, but that's never the case.

Assuming we don't have this, from a programming stand point would it be rather simple to squelch a channel?  Meaning a command ".squelch radio 3"  thus muting all room communications (that might include text, but I always look for simplified requests).

Channel 1 = All
Channel 2 = Country
Channel 3 = Room / Range as it is frequently called
Channel 4 = Squad
Channel 5 = Mission
