Greek mythology in WWII?

Sorry if this seems like a weird question, but was there in references in WWII to Greek mythology?

Learning about the Greek gods and culture is something i enjoy doing, and i always thought that if i had fought in ww2, i would of named my Aircraft "Poseidon revenge" if i served as a navy/marine corps pilot.


And maybe "Zeus's fury" if i was a bomber pilot.(just as Zeus hurls lightning bolts from the sky at his enemies, my bomber would drop Bombs upon it's)

Well, the knowledge of Greek mythology was just as great back then, so I'm sure there were many an aircraft named after the Greek gods. Anyways, in war you always want something to believe in, so I'm sure many pilots on all sides liked mythology.

Juno was a beach code name for D-Day and a ROMAN goddess. (not Greek)

I think you should name your plane 'Pan' (look it up)

There is 486th BG/ 834th BS "Zodiacs".  They had a few bombers name after a zodiac.

Learned about greek gods in school, I think Juno was Hera in greek mythology. One of the things I remember from social studies.
