TTS Software or Voices
« on: July 14, 2011, 08:53:43 PM »
Anyone know know if there are other voices than Microsoft Anna available.
If not, what about some Text To Speech software.  Free would always be nice, but if it's not too much
and sounds a little more life like than Anna, It'd be worth it.

Thanks

I've tried 3 different text-to-voice software packages and as far as I'm concerned 'Text-Aloud' is the best and most normal sounding package. Unfortunately it is not free - $29.95, (don't know if it comes with any voices).

Text-Aloud was far superior to AT&T Natural Voices,Cepstral, and microsoft voices. Cepstral was better then AT&T and microsoft voices. I haven't tried any others.

Do a search for 'Freeware text to voice software'. I found a number of programs. You'll have to check them out to see if they're really really free, as many products listed under 'Freeware' searches unfortunately are listed that way because they have a 'free trial' version, and aren't really really free.

Microsoft Sam, Microsoft Mike and Microsoft Mary were listed after I did a 'microsoft voices' search.

If you're going to use microsoft voices make sure you have the latest version:

Here's another download source that looks to have an engine and voices. Not sure if all are free, but the microsoft voices are listed here:

Hope this helps...

Iv'e used this on line. There are several voices with several different accents. Some sound pretty real others not so much.

edit: this one is too limited, seems like it used to allow full paragraphs/

That's fine with me jimson.  I just need a few short sentences to use in some offline missions.  I won't be able to actually
use them, until the mission editor is fixed anyhow.

Thanks for posting the link.

With this one, you can translate into different languages.

You will need a sound capture program. I use this one.
