Edit: weird... forum can't display an umlaut anymore? Or is that just on my side? :headscratch:

I've seen several characters now that it doesn't seem to be able to display all of a sudden.

Although I see no purpose in it. We take everything in AH (besides heavy bombers) and use it incorrectly. The Bf-110 was an anti-bomber plane, the Mosquito was mainly a bomber, the Hurri IIC was used because the MkI the RAF wanted an upgunned fighter.
I have a list of, IIRC, 900ish air-to-air kills by Mosquito fighters.  It most certainly was used as a fighter as well as a bomber, PR and strike aircraft.

no picture necessary, I get it.  The Jug gets to shoot from closer in than the bomber right? I just stopped and thought for a minute and now I've confused myself again.  Its going all chicken and egg.  Two planes are closing on each other each sees each other further away than each sees each other on each others screen.  It made sense when I read it on the trainer site.  I get confused because each computer is in a little world just slightly out of phase with the other and it seems like one or the other is going to be ahead and it seems like it would be the one flying behind.  But then I think can't you imagine it as the fighter is being pursued by a bomber flying backwards.  never mind.

pembquist, you see the other guys exactly your lags time behind where he really is on his side of the screen (say you got a 80ms ping, then the bad guy is (your lag+his lag) further on it's path on his end than on yours. If you factor in it's speed it can add up to a few tens of feet of discrepancy. Not too bad unless someone or you have very long ping time). There is a complete write up about this on the trainer side. It makes it all very clear.

I currently can't find the illustration I made about about this topic, so let my try to explain:

Each player is seeing the other player a bit behind the position this player is at on his respective screen. So if the bomber is 100 yards ahead of the fighter on the fighter pilot's screen, it's seems that the fighter is 200 yards behind him...

I guess I have to make another picture lol

PuppetZ,

It can be much more than a few tens of feet.  It can be over one hundred yards.

Not too bad unless someone or you have very long ping time

sure the discrepancy is a direct function of the total ping.

Closer to 1400 by my latest count - hope to be able, over the course of the next few years (that's how long it will take) to be able to split the confimed from the unconfirmed. By contrast, about 160 Mossies were shot down air-to-air, including some I suspect to be friendly-fire, which is another little sub-project...
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
