I'm Bona Fide!!
« on: July 25, 2011, 02:55:26 PM »
Was working on a cover letter this morning when I thought how tiresome it was always have to explain that my CPA license was pending. So I looked it up on the Professional License Agency website and there she was.........Finally! Then I deleted the explanation and added CPA to my title. Easy Peasy!

I won't go into the gory details of that journey since (ad nauseum) I've posted plenty about it. It sure is sweet to finish that journey.

Congrats! its about darn time!
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Isn't that the truth! It took 9 months after I passed the last exam. Just one closed door after the other. If it weren't for a former boss I would have never gotten it. Thank goodness I didn't burn all my bridges.

There is a lesson in that last statement for a LOT of folks who may be looking for work now or in the future. The momentary pleasure of burning your bridges may be nice but your employment history will not go away just because you severed ties there. Having been a pre employment investigator in my old department let me say that I was very very interested in past work history and did not let a simple statement of dates of employment be the end of the conversation. More than a few folks never made it past me because of the stuff I found out about their background.

Another thing to consider. Make sure your "professional" e-mail handle is not related in any way to your posting on BBS or the passing of jokes to friends. Everything you put online does not go away and can be traced. Employers are digging into things like blogs, facebook etc. to find out if a potential employee might be a liability in joining the company.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Nothing on the internet is tied to my professional account. Then again I'm pretty guarded about saying the things in the wrong way.
