Bloch MB.151 (or 152)
« on: July 30, 2011, 07:35:15 AM »
Both versions of the fighter was used in the Fall of France. The MB.151 made it to Greece where only 9 were used against the Italians. The MB.151 was outmatched by the 109E. The MB.151 (and 152) was still used by the Vichy French. (6 groups) The groups were later transferred to Romania by the Germans.

Specs (MB.152C.1) EXAMPLE:

Crew: 1
Length: 29ft 10in
Wingspan: 34ft 7in
Height: 9ft 11in
Wing area: 186ft squared
Empty Weight: 4,758lbs
Loaded Weight: 5,937lbs
Max Takeoff Weight: 6,173lbs
Engine: 1 × Gnome-Rhône 14N-25 14-cylinder, two-row, air-cooled radial engine, 1,030 hp
Max speed: 315mph
Range: 373mi
Service ceiling: 32,810ft
Rate of climb: 1,935ft/sec
Armament:
2x 20mm Hispano 404 cannons (60 round drum)
2x 7.5cm MAC 1934 machine guns (675 rounds)
Or
4x 7.5cm MAC 1934 machine guns

I think the MB.151 or 152 would be a much needed addition. The MB.151 or 152 would be a French plane for scenarios.

LOL so wrong, I wouldn't mind the Bloch but would prefer they added the Dewoitine D.520, it would be a serious threat to the German 109 in the pony war.

The D520 would be a far better addition to AH.  It can hang with the best of the EW fighters.

The quicker idiots learn that it wasn't the French military but instead the French government that failed, the sooner they will stop looking like fools cracking "surrender mokey" jokes.    :bhead

Well, we can add the MS.406, MB.151 (or 152), and D.520.

In the thread about the MS.406 (search doesn't work) there was a joke just like this. But, the French didn't retreat unless they were overrun or out of ammo.

+1 for any French representation.

On a side note: My jug flies French colors. I had to do some research for a masters class (military studies) regarding the initial German assault. The Allied strategy was relatively sound given the information available.  They had no clue just how superior German armor was and no way to remedy the problem in time.  The French saw the threat right from the end of WWI and attempted to build a defensive coalition to include Belgium.  When the Brits and Belgians got scared, they left the French alone with their skewed govmt and poor manning. The Belgians declared neutrality in an attempt to save themselves which prevented the posting of Allied (ie French) troops on Belgian soil even after the Belgian High Command assessed an attack was imminent.  When the attack did come, the Belgians lost Eben Emael (the strongest fortress in Europe) in short order to a few dozen airborne troops. The French and Belgians alike knew it was feasible for a German thrust through the Ardennes. (But did not expect armor)  A couple Belgian units fought delaying actions there before abandoning the endeavor and pulling out North.  The Belgians did not have the courtesy to alert the French to the true magnitude of the threat in the Ardennes. The disasters at Sedan and Dunkirk might have played out differently with a few more bits of information.  Further, the French Air Force fought the Germans to parity in K/D in the early days of the offensive before vastly superior numbers skewed the results. (IE the "vulch light came on over France)  This reflects more on French industry and government than pilot skill or valor. Remember, the French did not have the same advantage of large scale practice during the Spanish Civil War that the Luftwaffe was afforded.  The Italians were also attacking from the South. Ze French Army did a fine job halting their advance and French air assets creamed Italian units.  Free French units fought very well with Russian and RAF till the war ended. Big Picture for reference: After the good guys got their act together it still took another 5 years to finish off the Germans. They did fine.

I'm not pro or con French WWII expectations.  I would like to see the best of what the French had represented in the game though.  Some say they were very capable.

Maybe in a fun way we can consider the "what-ifs".  For instance, if Bruv won the next Ace of the month thing in a French fighter.  LOL!  Such fun.  :lol

I'd fly French fighter's just to shoot down the LA7 Spit16 folks.

The D520 can dance with anything in the EW arena.  It is no slouch.  Itd be like flying a 109E-4 in LW, but a bit better over all flight characteristics.
