An Appeal For PTO Pony's and Jugs
« on: July 27, 2011, 04:27:22 PM »
Ladies and Gents,

I'd like to make a pitch to the community that most of the new slots that open up for the Jugs and D/K Ponies be reserved for PTO skins, if indeed they don't get filled by the skins on deck, awaiting approval.

I agree - they need some PTO love. I'm working on a 318th FG Razorback now and will do a 348th bird later if nobody has plans for one by then.

Edit: Just saw that. Don't let me stop you.
May have to dust off Fiery Ginger now...

Well Krusty, assuming we picked up 16 D Pony slots, and there's 8-10 others that have already been submitted, that means maybe 6-8 PTO D Ponies could be added.  Considering that, by the end of the war, there were half a dozen fighter groups flying P-51's in PTO, I'd say that's a fair representation, wouldn't you?  And, the same could be said for the Jugs.

And, the operative word was "most"--not all.

@Cactus:  there are plenty of good 348th FG skins that could be done.  I said I "might" dust off Fiery Ginger.  :)

How 'bout "some" because "some" like the PTO, but "most" do not?
Used to fly as Halo46, GRHalo, Hobo and Punk at the end.

You're right.  Let's add some more 4th and 56th FG P-47D-11 skins!

It would be nice if the Iwo Jima 51 Groups were covered beyond the one 506th Mustang we have.   Certainly the late in the game 5th AF 51s would be good to have.  And the late in the game CBI Mustangs are also very colorful.  If for no other reason then it spreads out the ability to use correct skins in special events.

Clearly that applies to the Jugs too.  It would be nice to have more MTO and 9th AF ETO Jugs too.

The 39th FS Pony was accepted and Skuzzy has it.

It was Iwo based.  Also had a 348th FG Mustang done back in 2008, but I don't think I ever submitted it.

This is as good an example as I can think of on why we need more PTO Pony and Jug skins.  Some very colorful stuff...
