Anyone thought of using the WW1 terrain for a dueling party in the customs?  Super close fights right on the deck all WW2 planes enabled.  Would this interest duelers? If so maybe we can set a once a week time for it so people know when to look for it.

Yep, I had one up shortly after the update and a few others have used the same terrain as well.

I played in one the other night and it was great fun. You can even get a 262 up out of the WW1 fields Haha

I went into Reiners custom room That had the ww1 arena map. All he was doing was climbing to 10K in an f4u-4&BnZ'ing any plane that was taking off, and sometimes vultching if someone upped right away before he began his climb back up to his perch.  i got BnZ'ed to death&vultched twice before i said "Fawk this" and left to go back to the DA.

I've been playing with the ndisles terrain...

Here's how I have it set up when it's up:

I'm experimenting with colors and some other
settings; time is running 6x normal speed. So be
sure to stick around for sunset/sunrise. Night is
available on-demand if I'm in the arena.

For right now, all planes/GV's are enabled everywhere
except as noted below.

* Killshooter is off.
* Friendly collisions are on.
* Protect Objects is off; you can destroy your
   own objects.
* Icon range 3k
* Icon range below radar (planes and GV) 1.5k
* Radar alt 250ft
* Dar-dot full for everyone; (might change this)
* Dar-bar above 250ft
* Fog 12.5 miles
* Fuel burn 1.0
* All auto-ack (including puffy) are 0.001 normal
* Bombsite is manual (not MA auto)
* The central island is for GV fighting. The airbases
   are deserted except for the C47. WWI planes are
   enabled at the VBases to be used as spotters (or
   for dogfighting each other)
* Jets and the B29 are disabled at all but outer
   rim bases

Winds:
2k-8k Southwest to Northeast 10mph
8k-18k West to East 15
18k + South to North 25

I set up a room briefly on Friday night. I used the WWI terrain. I figured there would be complaints because the armament choices were limited. While it was possible to select guns and fuel, all that one would need in a dogfight arena, I knew ppl would complain from my old H2H hosting experience and I didnt want to jack with answering all night.

Until some smaller maps get loaded up, I expect less use then back in the old h2h days.

Also, I could get terrains and settings to save but I had to reselect all available aircraft everytime I opened the arena. That gets old fast. When I tried to save the selection I got a message saying I didn't have rights to do that or something along those lines. If there is a trick to it, I would appreciate some help.

There is no trick other than saving them to your HDD as arena tables.

I expect a patch to be coming soon to get all this working correctly.
