My god.. Skyrim's user interface is some of worst I've ever used, even MUDs have a better user interface. To get anywhere on the interface, you have to go through at least one unnecessary menu, like when opening inventory - for some reason you have to choose the category first. The skills screen is... well... massive with very little actual information on the screen, while it could be much more informative. The UI designer sure has gone great lenghts to make it a PROCESS to find what you need to know (or do).

I wonder how the modding community is going to adjust this, because this seems much more difficult than resizing the fonts that were too big in Oblivion.
It is because it is intended for a game machine.

I'll wait 6 months or a year before picking up any Bethesda game in order to give the mod community time to fix the game machine BS.

Get some better armor man. Hahaha but yeah the game is great.

I don't think the interface is very difficult to navigate or over tedious. The skills is a cool idea but I think it could be scaled down a bit.

no, you don't need to have steam to play :) my steam bugged on my skyrim as I unlocked it and it keeps giving me "try again later" message, so i just go to the directory and play the game from there, no need for steam at all :) but since sometimes friends talk to me i added it as a "non steam game" hehe people will think i got a pirate copy. darn you Gabe Newell!

My favorite moment so far would be trying to fight a giant then getting uppercutted to 2x the nearby mountain's height.

Playing as a 2Handed Warrior Nord/Archer and it's loads of fun. Gonna be a battle Mage next or a dual wielding thief.
One complaint is that you can't really play as an "evil" champion without being a psychopath killer either. But it's not just in Skyrim, it's in almost every RPG.

I'll be a maniacal killer on my second play through, hehe.
Once again, amazing job by Bethesda, can't wait for more mods to come out.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Yes.  It is required for installing and authenticating the game and also all patching will be done through Steam.

Im sorry but:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItQOo28Kd_U

The graphics are upgraded from Oblivion's when it comes to their glossiness and crisp image quality which is completely expected of any game made today. Oblivion is what? 5 or 6 years old now.

Pay attention to the actual graphic objects in the game. The houses are the same, the NPCs use the same models (their skins are updated to new graphics), the voices are the same audio/acting quality as those found in oblivion/fallout2/etc: bland, empty, scripted.

Honestly, I think all they did was recycle the oblivion engine, upped its graphics crispness and 'modded' oblivion into skyrim. Thats how it looks and feels like.

Even the damn gameplay is the same. The same retarded raise-hand, glow-hand, lame spell cast animation.

I expected a new game not a rehash of an old one.

so far I cant see anything that is taken from Oblivion....they did use a similar magic wield animation, but that is it.....

non of the textures are the same, the houses are not the same....

the NPC are NOT the same...not even close.

Skyrim so far is great. :aok

I did enjoy oblivion and the missus will actually sit and play it for a few hours.   With this in mind I will be flying the scenario on saturday night

The giant punt hundreds of feet in the air almost had me in tears from laughter.  My other favorite moment was killing a bear, hearing footsteps running behind me, drawing my bow to turn and face the new threat, seeing it was someone called 'frightened victim' or somesuch, and holding fire, but when she started talking the game released the arrow and I shot her in the face...

Another good one was I was fighting a dragon in the middle of a forest, the dragon breathed fire at a farm during the course of the battle, out of nowhere this woman runs out of the farm area and starts attacking me.  I'm like, 'Lady, do you not see the giant firebreathing lizard over there?  Prioritize, dammit!!!'

Truly an excellent game.  A little bit of 'more of the same' disease from Oblivion, but it is improved and different.  I'm not super thrilled with how they did some of the magic effects and soforth.  I really miss 'detect life' being able to go on an item...  But I can see why they did it.

Open world games are some of my favorites by far, and the Elder Scrolls are one of the most 'open' out there.  It's definitely cut off my AH addiction other than FSO. :)

I specifically got the PC version so when the modders do their thing, I can get more out of it.  Can't wait to see what people come up with.

I have no idea what this game is like but it looks cool. I just wish rather than always starting out with a stick and leather armor, it was more like Hitman where you have all the tools you need, you just have to figure out the best way to do the killing. Thats why I like AH, it gives you everything you need the first day you play. The talent you have to provide.

It's a RPG that you can play in either 1st or 3rd person. Unlike most RPGs, which have a main storyline that you have to stick to, Skyrim doesn't force you to, meaning you can do whatever quest you want from the beginning. The maps are huge, there's no invisible barrier blocking you from going off the "main path". If you ever played Fallout 3/New Vegas, it's more or less the same thing.

If you want to, there's also a cheat command where you can add every single item you want in the game. There's no level requirements, so you can be totally pimped out at level 1. But I wouldn't do it, because it pretty much ruins the game if you can kill everything with one hit.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I like exploring and finding new settlements.  Found this one after I took out a keep full of werewolf hunters, it's someone's nice little homestead.

Surprised that it's less of a tax on my system than Oblivion was when it was released, I'm able to run Skyrim in ultrahigh settings without any issues and FPS stays above 40.
