Quick summary of Frame 1
« on: August 06, 2011, 12:45:16 PM »
The Allied Ace Pilot was Hymi. He was representing RAF Ace Canadian Pilot Officer W L “Willie” McKnight.

Hymi shot down 1 Bf 109 piloted by hyzer and was subsequently shot down by shamus and captured.

The Axis Ace Pilot was Perdweeb. He was representing Luftwaffe Ace Oberleutnant Joachim Müncheberg.

Perdweeb failed to shoot down any Allied aircraft and was shot down and killed by AKWxMan.

In the scoring department, the Allies and Axis were very close in kills, assists and deaths, but the Axis clearly destroyed more objects.

The Luftwaffe destroyed 8 Ships.

Allied Pilots: 168
Axis Pilots: 167

Allied Kills: 97
Axis Kills: 99

Allied Assists: 94
Axis Assists: 117

Allied Deaths: 58
Axis Deaths: 68

Allied Objects: 140
Axis Objects: 213

Congratulations to Lyric (an honor he has held before) for being the top allied scorer with 4 victories and to phatzo for having the most objects destroyed on the Allied side.

Congratulations to both Hightone and Shamus for tying in the kill category with 4 kills and 68Falcon for having the most objects destroyed on the Axis side.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Can you tell me why this didnt kill or do any damage?

He eventually hot-padded and shot Me down 18 mins later.

I know the P40's got remodeled but something is obviously wrong.

Well... according to the logs, he shot you down and then rearmed and refueled. The way you worded it sounds like you shot him up, he rearmed, and then he shot you down 18 minutes after you shot him up. I checked the raw logs, which is the data that forms the logs that you see at ahevents.org and I counted 8 instances of damage Buba received from you. The first 5 instances occur at 23:30, the last three occur at 23:36. If these times are correct, he shot you down 2 minutes after you hit/damaged him at 23:38.

I honestly can't tell you why it didn't kill or seriously damage Buba. I don't have access to any code or anything that tells me why this particular thing happened to you. Perhaps you should send your film to HTC to see if its some sort of bug with the new P-40 model.

I can only speculate that you raked him with  4x.30 cal and/or 2x .50 cal and he survived with little or no damage. I do know that US .30 cal and British .303 is notorious for not doing visible damage in AH... Remember they are smaller caliber rifle rounds, the same rounds you may deer hunt with.

Nice screens BTW.

ELD66...

I think that was me that you raked...  Buba was engaged with DOGG at the time (I think)... then he ended up alongside me chasing you.  You raked me at least twice that I know of.. and they all sounded like 303 rounds (BB's) hitting me.  Not 50's.  I am guessing that just like us... you were already out of your heavier rounds by this point.  Our cannon rounds were long gone at that point.

It took us HUNDREDS of rounds from both our planes to down you... we thought you were going to get away, as we were dangerously low on fuel.   I have film of us lighting you up like a christmas tree for what seems like hours... and you kept on flying.  I actually made some of it into a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3esK-SX7k0  (sorry for the cheer when we downed you... but hey) :)

And here are some screens of the fight from our point of view:

This one I think was just after you lit me up, and I barrel rolled over you and you shot past.  If you look close... I have holes in my wings and underside.  Small ones :)

Me and Buba on your tail (and after Buba flew through my guns without a scratch!)

More hits on you during the chase.

If you had hit us with 50's... the outcome would have been a lot different... just as it would have been had we still had cannon rounds left.  All and all, it was an exciting fight, and there were a couple of times I thought you and Dogg had us.

Looking at your screenshots again... I am wondering if that wasnt smitty you raked like that.  He was pilot wounded and ended up ditching 1000 yards short of the runway form running out of fuel.  But smitty was in the fight with us there for a little while too... pulled away when he got the PW.

ELD, as one who has a LOT of experience getting kills in craft with 2x50cal and pea shooters in the wings, I can tell you that's not nearly enough to kill.

Your hits are spread out and not concentrated to do damage. Further it's a crossing shot, probably a split second at most. Even if you saddle up behind somebody in a P-40B, you still need about 1-2 full second bursts (if not 4 secs or more) to kill them.

My guess is you just aren't experienced in fighting with that guns package. You hit him with .30cals. Remember your wing guns are as weak as Hurr Mk.I guns. Only your nose guns are .50cal.

When the Allied Ace got Hyzer (squadron mate) it must have been when we (VF-17) flew down to check out what all was happening west of A60. We all ended up running back towards A60 like scalded dogs when we saw the hornets nest of Hurricanes and Spitfires coming after us. We were up around 20k and I ended up in a stalling scissors fight on the deck with a Hurricane that killed me.

All my gun convergence were the same. I still had over 300 rounds of 50's when I did that shot. But I hit 7 targets and got 1 kill. Something is off. I also am experienced with bb planes. I can take a wing off of a spit 16 with a A6M2's 7.7's alone. Also at less then 300 yards any bullet should count if it hits the cockpit. That's all I have to say.

We did have ya till ur other squady's came in to help u 2, hehehe.  Was a nice 2 on 2 battle till then.
I agree completely. You two would of been down if you didn't have 4 squadies come into the fray. <S>

Here is the raw film.  From what I can tell... almost all the shots you had were short duration, made on frontal passes, or high speed crossing shots, and with limited hits.  In addition, they were spread out over all of us.  Smitty and Ron both received pilot wounds, and ended up pulling back.  You both did damage, but unfortunately not enough to one plane to kill anyone.

Something is off. I also am experienced with bb planes. I can take a wing off of a spit 16 with a A6M2's 7.7's alone. Also at less then 300 yards any bullet should count if it hits the cockpit. That's all I have to say.

There were a lot of 109's that went down that night to P-40's.  Your one experience that night does not constitute something being off with the plane.

I agree completely. You two would of been down if you didn't have 4 squadies come into the fray. <S>

Could have gone either way.  Save the bravado for the MA. <S>

Reschke - Several of the Hurri's and Spits were 325th VFG.  Plus several other squads and or parts and pieces.  Probably 20+

After we defended the boats and no more attacks looked like they were coming we all started pushing west toward the ALLIED base that was flashing (i think A48) which was west of A60 (AXIS base).  Someone spotted your 109s from the tower which started the shifting west.  There was a lot of radio chatter and buffer messages to shift the battle to that area.  So you had a hand full of trouble coming  :)

You guys did a great job of defending yourselves against us.  As long as you stayed high you were safe.  I know I flew under the 3-4 109's several times (13-16K) to try to get you to come down and stay there.  The B and Z's were done well and text book.   :aok  Finally I and a few others flew back east and climbed.  I came back in at 25K about the time the fight descended down hill and ended near A60.  I was wondering if we would ever get you myself and I figured we would end up dieing in your ack   :uhoh

A really fun fight and well done by your guys defending A60 late frame.   :salute

Viper61,

After deciding to head down south from 60 to stir up a fight, and bit off way more then we could chew.  I had to ask "who's idea was this anyway", I think we ended up blaming it on BC :lol.  I barely managed to get out of their myself along with two other squaddies that managed to escape that.  I was ok till a co-alt spit had a bunch of E on me and caused me to split S off my perch and brought me down to a level of more hurricanes which then pounced.  I had to pull a few tricks, to get out of there alive.

:salute Viper you guys gave just as good as you got in that one. You probably outnumbered up 2:1 for sure since we kept running into spit-hurri combinations that we had a hard time shaking. We came in at that altitude on purpose just because we felt like we had a better chance of living to get back to A60 at the end which we almost did. I was following my wingman and trying to clear his tail from the 3 planes that were following and shooting at him but he ended up getting forced down below our desired level and then it turned ugly with him getting shot up and then me evading and trying to come back to rejoin the rest of the group. That was when I ended up in the fight with the lone Hurricane at ground level.
