The LaGG-3, for all its pathetic performance, was more important than the Yak1 or Yak7 during the first have of the VVS involvement in WW2.

Over 6000 built. Lightly armored, but it was one of the most common front line fighters when Germany attacked. More LaGG-3s were lost than I-16s.

Terrible beast of a plane, but definitely representative of early-to-mid Soviet production capabilities.

No need for the spitfire-like Yak-1, when the LaGG remains unrepresented!
