Football: Rahim Moore
« on: August 22, 2011, 09:48:41 AM »
I'm not a big enough football fan to form an opinion, but anyone have a comment on Rahim Moore's hit during the Broncos Game last Saturday?

Here it is:

Should he have been flagged?

under the current rules that can be interpreted as a penalty can't really say whether I agree or disagree with the call as he did lead with his shoulder and not his head

He led with the shoulder, but the head contact was bound to happen with the way he went in.

You can still blast the living sheet out of someone tackling the proper way, but these dudes keep trying to shoulder check or they chicken out and look down instead of what they're hitting. That's when the awful stuff happens.

In a nutshell the reason why players and coaches hate pre-season. Even many fans dont like it. The season shouldnt be decided before it even starts.

Cheap shot. But with so many 21yos looking for jobs to buy their bling is it surprising all these pre-season injuries happen?

Could someone inform me (cause yeah, I watch baseball and I'm un-american) what the exact rules are regarding tackles?  :)

Legitimate hit as far as I am concerned.  The league is trying over regulate this stuff.

Should have wrapped up instead of pulling a Deion Sanders type hit but other than that he went in just in case the guy actually made the catch. The received alligator armed the catch when he saw the safety coming in to smack him.

Clean hit. Unfortunate timing for the WR but clean hit. The stricter the rules, the more flags we'll see. Tho the review rule change is going to be good I think.

I'm a HUGE Broncos fan, and that hit gave me an instant flashback to the days of Steve Aavacadoer (EDIT:  apparently A T W A T E R triggers the profanity filter, lol) roaming the secondary terrifying receivers who had to go up for a high pass.  I've had high hopes for Moore since the draft, that hit solidified my opinion...  The kid is a monster!

What impressed me even more than the hit was Moore not talking trash and fighting, as the Bills players repeatedly tried to get in his face after the play.  Hard hitter and a class act.

BTW, the coaches gave him a lecture on how to hit within the rules, but also said "keep it up."

In my opinion, these players knew the risks when they signed up to play.  Injuries are unfortunate, but if they dont want injuries they're gonna have to just play flag football.

WTH?  If the ball carriers helmet comes off the play is dead?  That's dumb.
