RAM For Intel Board Only?
« on: August 24, 2011, 11:08:56 AM »
That's what I'm wondering.  I was interested in upgrading my RAM to this G.Skill
When I read the features for it, I noticed it mentions a lot about Intel.  Does this mean that it won't work on my board?
I have an AMD motherboard.  My Board
Just want  utilize the Hyper-Transport feature on my board.  Right now I'm using two OEM sticks of RAM that came with
this computer 5 years ago, and to sticks of Kingston Valueram.

you already are using the hyper transport front side bus on your mobo. the ram doesn't turn it on or off. that mobo appears to be native ddr2 1066 standard which means the memory you're looking should work. i'm not a fan of gskill memory but, what you picked out doesn't look too bad. just don't mix it with the cheapo stuff you already have.

Right.  Those are 2GB per stick.  Since Vista 32 Bit only supports 4 GB memory, I'll just use those two sticks and hang on to my other stuff for a rainy day.

Thanks gryene81

I noticed that you can buy 8 gigs for only 5 bucks more and keep the extra for future upgrade.

not sure where you saw that but, it wasn't under the gskill ddr2 category.

Yes, your RAM will work with your mother board.  It probably talks about Intel alot either because it was designed by Intel, or designed to work secificly with an Intel computer.
