My first "UFO" Experience
« on: August 27, 2011, 08:48:17 PM »
So, I was at a local park, doing my 2nd ever night flight on my RC Stryker Q, with LED strip lights on it, (awesome night flyer for an EDF/Turbine "daytime" junkie like myself....)

Well I go to put my 2nd battery in the bird to fly again, and up pulls a cop.... as he pulls up, I plug the battery in and the bird lights up like a carnival ride...
(didnt realize it was a cop)

So, all of a sudden he gets out and starts laughing uncontrollably.... I was like.. mmmkay...

So he walks up to me still chuckling, and says, "well I guess I've identified that ufo".. apparently someone had reported it as such!

Wound up being pretty cool, as the cop stayed through two more batteries and we chatted about RC during y flights, and for some time after... he is going to the LHS with his son to look @ a trainer this coming week! So out of UFO, perhaps a bit of new blood in the hobby!

I thought this was cool/funny, figured id drop a post here about the experience hehe

Lol, nice. Seriously got me thinking about RC too. Must resist in this economy though :(
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

RC doesnt have to be expensive..  I have everything from the Stryker I was just talking about (bought for about 180 bucks) up through an F/A-18E with twin turbines that I have over 12k in.... its all about what you want to do...

Don't let fear of $$ discourage you.. you can get a nice little electric cub, ready to fly (with radio) for 100 bucks!  Thats less than a round of golf!

People will call in anything unusual as a UFO, believe me.  I used to be a Emergency Services Dispatcher, and a UFO is the least strange call we would get.
I could tell a fun UFO story, but don't want to hijack the thread.
