Beau is right. It works with wounded 262s too.

Maybe the Prawns remember to that crazy turnfight, 2 p38s and a lala vs me, back in May. Took about 10 mins, none of them were trying to extend and pick plus i was lucky as hell. Definiately goes into my top 3.
Big <S>

I've tried it w/ 262s before, I don't remember my oil lasting any longer.  :huh

I seem to get a lot of "never shoulda happened" landings.  I think people see my battered plane and just say "well forget that".

Two I can remember right off (and the two I actually saved the pics from):

1)
Landing this beast:

Took on an LA-7, 190, CV Puffy ack, some other fighter and a set of B-24s before taking PW, hundreds of holes, and various damage.  Had to get it 2 sectors home on a PW at 13K, was probably the quickest landing I've ever made in a Bomber with the gear down....
~10 sectors, multiple cons, puffy, a gunner screaming that I'm mad...was a fun sortie, but never should have made that back alive.

2)

Not a long flight to the action, but a long flight home.  Lost 1/2 my wing to an enemy in a fight (fighting in that is the death of me so many times over) and was leaking oil in Engine 2 (right).  Shortly after I smacked a tree and lost the other 1/2 wing and lost what little oil I had left shortly after, 1 engine and 2 wings down....had to take 'er the way home with the wing trying to drop.  Got most of the way home when I lost too much Airspeed and ended up landing it halfway home, but the beast wanted to get back, so we trekked onwards home on foot err wheels.  We couldn't slow down for fear of never getting the speed to keep it straight and true again.  After avoiding tree after tree I found town and decided that was good enough.

Plenty of "How the?!" flights in the logs (try landing an F2.b with no V-stab and cons chasing, horror, yelling like a little girl, confidence and fun all in one!), all fun sorties though. :D

Raptor, turning engines off won't conserve oil, it leaks at the same pace on or off.

You sure of that? I know for a fact that an engine @ WEP will leak oil faster than an idling engine if theyre both hit. I assumed if it was off it would slow to a trickle

Turning them off also keeps them from over heating ;)

I spotted a noe raid at vbase. There were 5-6 jugs and 1 goon in total. The jugs downed the vh's before I could up a gv. I lifted from a nearby base about 15 miles away in a 51. As far as I could tell no friendlies were at the vbase. I managed to down 3-4 jugs in about a minute. I spotted a goon ib and took it out right before it reached the vbase. The remaining jug pilots were probably pretty pee'd, but I took them out as well. After the vbase stoped blinking I decided to head back to my airfield. During the engagement I took a few hits, my oil and probably a wheel were hit as for the reason of not landing at the vbase. As I approached midway between the vbase and the airfield 3 friendly fighters were otw to the vbase. I gave them a <S> and was able to continue home and land my kills.

I was flying around an enemy field in a 262 (a plane I simply cannot fly) when ack took out 1 of my engines so I decided to head home. I was low and slow with an LA7 chasing me all the way and gaining. As I'm approaching base I'm thinking "I'm never going to get this down in time" so I turned in to him hoping to either throw him off or at least slow the jet down enough to belly land it.

Well, long story short both my wishes were rejected and I found myself in a vertical climb with the LA climbing up my pipe. I rudder over and induce a cartwheel spin, watching the LA overshoot and fall right into my sights. A 2 shot burst is all that is required and he's back in the tower.

Not true. No oil pressure means no pumping oil out of that hole.

Here's one that wasn't really that unusual but it was really cool:

I switched over to Knights one day to fly a couple of sorties with Zeagle.  We were flying Ta-152's in contested territory in locked wing formation just over the cloud deck.  Zeagle was leading and I was on his left wing when we spotted a pair of P-40's at about 8K flying the opposite direction also in locked wing formation.

We dove in on them.  They never saw us.  We each fired a micro burst and each took out one P-40 then zoomed back to alt.  The thing is we never broke formation the entire time.  It was sweet and I wish I'd filmed it.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
