Ribbons in signature blocks
« on: September 10, 2011, 01:59:57 AM »
I have seen a lot of them, heck I have a set myself. I was wondering where /how they were created and what was the base used. I am pretty familiar with the actual awards and I am glad this community has left them alone. What I am trying to ask is what program or site was used to develop the AH specific awards?

Ps I have orders for all those listed below

I practically made up my squad awards section, I use Corel Painter 12 to design the ribbons based on actual ribbons used during WW2 and some later ribbons - others (including Ww1 victory ribbon) and some later ribbons that squad members have actually earned (Afghan Service, Vietnam and Iraq).

Also I use Macromedia Fireworks since it works well with Dreamweaver on editing ribbons and such - what I plan to do as you are asking is redesign them for an Aces high "Touch" - for example we have a Distinguished Service Cross ribbon, however it will be modified to have a spitfire and 109 dogfighting in the middle to shy away from its "original" intent as our award is given for landing 9 in the main arena. Some I've already created like the M8 award, which was an M8 doing full speed added, or a CV sinker award which is a ribbon where you see a CV "floating" then it breaks in half and sinks.

All were basically made in Corel, then used Fireworks to modify the image for GIF motion (and since Fireworks works well with dreamweaver) I can modify as I go.

Hope this answers your question, let me know if you have any others?

when i was with the 173rd guardian angels as lunatic we had medals and ribbons and rank------but with the L.T.A.R.S. we just have ranks------all most of our medals and ribbon's were based on real military info.
