A stand for the Sikorsky horizontal stabilizer.
« on: September 05, 2011, 05:50:44 PM »
Hello, I am almost finished making a display stand for the Sikorsky SEA KING horizontal stabilizer that I picked up at a local estate auction.  I used the airfoil as a pattern for the ends of the stand. I just widened the profile in the center by two inches to keep it from being top heavy and tipping over too easily. A little more sanding, then a coat of varnish yet to go.

I wanted to display the stabilizer with the star perfectly level.

I think it will look good along a wall in the man cave.

Really???

That's coffee table material all day long bro, that makes it the center pont of any room.

My .02 Cents

WOOT!   :aok

Make sure it stands proud of any nearby man-cave wall, so visitors can grok it from all angles.

I paid $120.00 for the horizontal stabilizer. I then paid $9.00 (also at an estate auction) for the piece of oak that I made the stand out of.

I like the idea of painting the stand OD green. That will have to be considered.

As for making a coffee table out of it… Who knows what will eventually happen to it. Right now I like it on the stand. The stand will keep it from getting banged around in the garage, and I can hide a ton of tools behind it.

I see this WAY TOO OFTEN! Everyone puts .02 Cents... did anyone on this board pay attention in math class?

It is 2 Cents! or .02 Dollars....

.02 Cents is not the same as 2 Cents
