And on that note did anyone see the AH home page.  I guess you missed it.  When are we going to get the JU-188 or He-111

Nope, I didn't miss it...hence my snarky reply.  :t

My wish is more Hurricane!  The Mark IV was the final production version of the Hurricane. It was a dedicated ground attack aircraft, normally armed with two 40 mm Vickers cannon, eight 60 lb. rockets or two 500 lb. bombs.  It was equipped with the Merlin 24 or Merlin 27 engine, both of which gave 1,620 hp. which gave it a little more hp to carry the external ordnance.  Over 700 were built and flown during the war years.

"Normally armed with 40 mm Vickers cannon" would be stretching it.

Search function Waystin.  We've covered this one a couple times.  I kinda doubt anyone is going to want to fly a Hurri with just rockets and no guns.  Posted some images of the combat birds in both the previous threads.  You can do the rocket bit with the Tiffies better and have the 20mms and the IId handles the cannon part fine :)

Check the images at the bottom of this thread. Normally a DT and 4 rockets.

Honestly missing your point here Guppy. :headscratch:  This planes normal armament was the two 40 mm Vickers.  Due to the addition of the Universal wing it was then able to carry rockets or bombs in addition to those cannon paired with two .303's.  At times it was drop tanks replacing either the bombs or the rockets.  I read the suggested thread but I guess I am missing something...

Well, from what ive read, the Hurricane performed better against the Luftwaffe fighters at the time than the Spitfire did, and i believe i read somewheres it achieved more kills during the battle than the spits.

so, you have the spit who performed better than the hurricane, but the hurricane performed the task set to both of them better than the spit.

idk, i just think there was alot of un-tapped potential in the hurricane. Would of loved to see a 4-6 .50 cal version.

It acquired more kills because there were simply more of them. Also, Fighter Command sent them to fight bombers while Spits dealed with the escorts. While it was still dangerous, shooting down bombers were much easier than dogfighting against a 109 or 110.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Look at the pics.

It would seem to be an either/or situation. Either 40mm S-guns or Rockets.

Quote
Typical war loads were:

2x 40 mm guns, 1 x 40mm gun and 4 RP’s, 8 RP’s, 4 RP’s and one 44 gallon drop tank, 1 500 lb bomb, and 2 RP’s. Bombs and fuel tanks could also be carried. In combat the mixed RP and drop tank loads seem to have been most common in Italy/Balkans, with single armament loads most common in Burma and operations from the UK. The mixed loads could be placed on either wing.

Bablefished from http://www.luchtoorlog.be/hhur.htm:

Quote
There Hurricanes with an asymmetrical cargo, which existed from a fuel tank under the one wing and four rockets under the other wing, uncountable attacks carried out, became. At No.184 Sqdn one tried install rockets under the one wing and 40 mm a gun under the other, but the beam impact causes by the gun at firing was this way violent that the rockets with their rails under the other wing demolitions.

So, you either get a Mk2D with more armor or a Hurricane with rockets. Hence the "I kinda doubt anyone is going to want to fly a Hurri with just rockets and no guns."

You are most correct Guppy & Wrong.  Went back and re-read my own material and I read the loadouts incorrectly. I understood them as concurrently possible instead of exclusive setups to themselves.  However I still wish to see the MK. IV added to the inventory eventually anyway, so the wish still stands.  The ability to mix up the loadout makes it a fun bird in my opinion.

The Hurricane did not perform better than the Spitfire against German fighters and since they were tasked to go after the bombers, achieved more kills than the Spitfire.
