This is Bob the dog. I'm flying him to Amarillo on Friday for a Paws N Pilots flight. I'm taking care of him for a few days because the shelter wanted him out, and the lady who adopted him (sight unseen) lives in Idaho. If she hadnt adopted him they would have killed him. He's a really sweet dog, and I dont see how anyone could have been mean to him, but it gets worse.

Someone thought it would be fun to shoot him with a pellet gun - The vet counted 13 pellets and pulled them out and cleaned them. I'd LOVE to meet the dickhead who shot him about 100 yards downrange.

I'd shoot him 13 times, but not with a pellet gun.

Really?  You value the life of an animal, ANY animal, above that of a human (ANY human)?

That's sick.  Really sick.  You ought to examine what you really think about some things before you go spouting off stuff like this.

Tap the brakes Eagl..

Dude.. if it came down to Kojak or a human baby I know the human would win in that instance.  I pray I'm never put in that position.  We're talking about wanton abuse here of another sentient being.

Nice looking dog Tup <S>

That's pretty sick.  That sort of thing is exactly what "community service" penalties are for...  Don't shoot the perps (my point about a human being worth more than any animal applies here), just make them do a few hundred hours of community service in the local animal shelter.  Let them CARE for animals that are hurt or abandoned.  Make them do it long enough to develop bonds with some of the animals and still have to watch those animals either die from their injuries, or get put down for lack of a home.

That's what those sick people need.  Some well-chosen life experiences.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I guess we can all agree animals should not endure abuse no matter their lot in life.

How people get so upset over dogs or cats is beyond me. At the end of the day they are just animals.

At the end of the day you, also, are just an animal.

Is it not the same?

Animal lovers drive me crazy. Its an animal. Nothing even close to a human nor are their lives even close to being as valuable to a human life. Shooting a dog with a pellet gun is stupid but the person ABSOLUTELY shouldn't be killed over it. Dumping animals off really isn't that big of deal. I can't even begin to understand why someone would want to kill A HUMAN BEING for dumping an animal out. After all they are animals, and natural instinct will kick in. Their chance of survival is very high. Even if they do die or get killed they just become part of the circle of life. Something will eat them and in turn something will probably eat what ever ate the dog or cat or whatever. I really don't see any reason to get all hyped up because someone dumped some animals out. Big woop, it happens almost daily here.

dropping an animal that has become dependant on YOU to feed it and house it "no big deal"?? WOW that is sic.so it is ok to doom an animal to slow starvation and parasites? :headscratch:
I have two dogs and two kids if the house was on fire the dogs would be on their own until I got my kids out,I would go back for the dogs only if my family was safe first. I damn sure would do everything in my power to save my mutts even if they are not so called working dogs, they are valuable to me.

The bloody UK where an American pilot got a $1000 fine and a criminal record because he drove over a nest that had fallen behind his car sometime during the night, and the animal cruelty cops saw the flat nest and charged him with torturing and killing nesting animals, which can apparently get you jail time in the UK.  He was lucky to get a mere criminal record and a huge fine.

this sounds like an urban myth to me - afaik the police dont even have an animal protection unit, and http://www.google.com/search?q=us+citizen+fined+for+running+over+birds+nest+in+uk yields nothing :headscratch:

did you by any chance hear this from that tv political pundit? you know, the guy that cries alot?

I like Steak... I like Lamb.... I like Pork... etc etc...

But any life form that is non harmful to humans and not a primary food stuff should not only be treated with utmost respect.. but should be befriended and treated with dignity and care. They have emotions... needs... wants... just like us. While we are sentient life forms.. animals live and breathe and feel pain as well as pleasure. Unless we eat them or they threaten our lives or the ecosystem... let them live and enjoy living.

Oh heck yes.  Being human doesn't give you a "get outa jail free" card.

He was probably dragging their trash through their yard.  A nuisance animal is a nuisanse animal.  Be it a squirrel, cat, chipmunk or dog, if it is in my yard it will be dealt with.  People need to learn to keep their animals in their yard.
