CH throttle/fighterstick/rudders.

Been given CH throttle/fighterstick and rudders.  Notice a lot of aces (experienced pilots) here have this product.   Just wondering if there is any post or if any of you could post your allocation of functions  to each of the the Throttle/Fighterstick/ rudders.  It would be very much appreciated by myself and many other pilots to get a different perspective of the CH hardware that we use in the game.  Thx.

Set up is personal preference :old:

Make a cup of tea go offline and spend a afternoon trying out different set-ups :old:

Try not to move botton and right wheel off centre on fighterstick(Throttle wheel is good for rpms) :old:

There are no Aces in game just individuals who have obsessive behavioural issues  :old:

To reiterate what zack said...the bottom and right wheels on the stick ARE NOT trim wheels. They are adjustment wheels for the pots controlling the X and Y axis of the stick. Center them and tape them down - do not ever move them.

The left wheel could be used for throttle, but since you have the throttle, you could set it for engine RPM.

Before I got TrackIR, I used the 8-way switch on the throttle for my views and the pinky button on the stick for "look up". The stick is modelled after a real F-16 sidestick and is meant to be next to your leg, not on a desk. So, many people complain and have trouble using the 8-way on the stick for views.

Everything else is personal preference. I personally don't use the CH Control software for anything other than calibration in Windows. I assign everything from within the game.

For the rudder pedals, make sure you assign the rudder yaw to the z axis and analog left and right brake to each pedal (one is x axis the other is y). Differential braking comes in handy...especially taxing onto the rearm pad.

Once you get the axis mapped, fly around offline and make sure that the hats and buttons you will use a lot, like views, vox, and flaps, are easy to reach.

You'll want an "up" modifier for the view hat. You can also map 2 hats, one on the stick and one on the throttle, to combine views instead of hunting for the corner positions on an 8 way hat. You could use front, back, left, right on the stick and up, down, front, back, on the throttle. That lets you check 6 with either hand.

You don't need to map all your buttons right away. It's better to take some time and figure out what is more efficient for you. Buttons like gear for example, which you typically push twice per flight aren't as important as the clipboard which you may toggle several times.

A bit of advice, once you have set everything up have fun playing game.

Don't tune into 200 or PM people being abusive and check out squeltch option, i have a list of individuals i squeltch when ever they log on :old:

As i have mentioned before the best sticks are not always the people with the high scores :old:
