Yes please put it up in the arena message.  See someone breaking the rules, .warn so and so,  if they do it again, .tower so and so.  Explain what they are doing is not in the rules or spirit of the rules of the AvA and send them back out.  They infract again then the old watch TV for a while .eject so and so.  You don't want it to be like it was a while ago, when you had 3 people running off everyone except the diehards.  Don't be afraid to call people out if your a mod, I do it all the time in the TA when someone is out of line, After I give you a warning, do it again and your watching TV.  I haven't witnessed this issue recently, so I'm not sure who is in question here.

Whats funny is, one of the biggest drama queens of last night (not gonna name him on here) said he was quiting both the AvA along with the game.

Yet, he was back in here tonight. Doing the same complaining he did last night.

.... night (not gonna name him on here) said he....

And why not?  Maybe if he sees his name in the spotlight, he'll ease up a bit.  Sometimes, a little peer pressure goes a long way.  :salute

could someone please list arena rules? i didn't know there were any? i know they(the admin group) want to promote "their gameplay", but I didn't know there were actual "rules". please list them for me so we can all see them and know what they are. this way we will all be on the same page.

its not that they were "rules" per say but it was a different play style originally.  I can tell you the big draw for me at first was the no icon settings, been beaten to death so thats all i will say about that.  It was a fun arena because it wasnt just about winning the war at all costs.  Some said we all had chips on our shoulders and thought we were better then all the other MA players but this is not true, we just liked playing the game a different way.  Ive personally been playing the game for about 10 years and ive seen a lot of changes, good and bad.

same rules as everywhere else, the crap you have been spouting to players who don't do things your way is abusive to say the least. no one is impressed by your uber console 1337 gamer skillz by any stretch of the imagination. it's not your arena, nor your duty to berate other players for not doing things your way, or tell the ava staff members how to run the arena. if you have an objection over a setup, or how things are being played out on a setup, post it here in the forums.

Someone just say "Please leave the drama in the MA. We're here to just have fun."

That should be enough. If not, grow thicker skin; you're not going to change the behaviors of others. The mod's tools are not to be used to bend people to your playstyle - don't go down that road...you won't like what you find at the end of it.

We are getting mixed messages right here and right now about what this arena is about. The current orders said Allied were to take the beach head from the south and push north by taking bases until we crossed the 7 line, ultimately taking Nagasaki. That is what we were doing when (we all know who now) was beraiting people about being tool shedders, not being welcome in the arena, suck game play to his standards, etc. I am now being told by others that the arena is not a win the war type of arena, it seems to me like you guys want a "Dueling Lite Arena". If this is the case, don't publish orders and objectives that ask us to roll bases and capture land. If this is the case, then the rest of the players that don't like it should shut it and follow the objectives.

As for the person doing all of the berating of players, don't play dumb that you don't know the rules. The #1 rule is to be civil to other players. You cant seem to follow this and pretty much chase anyone out of the arena that doesn't play it your way. Taunting, telling people they suck, etc. You did it Saturday night, chased another player out of the arena Sunday morning, tried to engage me Sunday morning again, berated a squaddie and myself Sunday evening on range for doing something we were not, but you thought we were (dropping into a 1v1), etc.

Just clarify, you guys want a Dueling Lite arena, or do you want us to follow the orders that you published?

Like Grumpy37 said;
its not that they were "rules" per say but it was a different play style originally.

I knew it would be a "what rule did I break?" discussion after a while.   Well as far as I know, it's called The Rule of Thumb First off,,,,,,,there ain't no guy named Thumb & it ain't about anyone's thumb  :P   The expression is applied to an implied set of principles that a society employs to govern itself.
For instance, it is just not polite to lick someone else's food while they are still eating it  There is no real rule or law about this, you just have been taught that this is not acceptable behavior  ;)

Sometimes I think we get in the mindset that no matter how hard we try to follow the rules, it is aggravating that someone else breaks them & gets away with it. To that discussion I would add these analogies. Is it stealing if you do not get caught?  Are you a thief if you steal a penny? Was it really a 'homerun' the player hit while on performance enhancing drugs?

I personally look at my performance in a fight & revel in a well flown, sharp gunned kill or death. When an unearned, cheap shot is used, it's just a Phffttt for me. That is all it is. Cheap shot have been taken by some of the greatest aces in all wars.  Like the Commander in Flyboys said about unfairness. "You want justice? You have a gun, use it"

I would like to address ganging though.  I think 2 guys working together is TEAMWORK  I can respect that.  When 2 guys work against 1 & a 3rd guy picks or 2 to whatever number of fellas pile on, then that is ridiculous.  Again there is a rule of thumb that works here. If you are one of the gangers, think about what you are doing ;) Whining about not getting a decent 1v1 is a losers way of saying, it is somebody else's fault my situational awareness sucks. Simpler way to say that is "oops, didn't see ya there"

Wow just went on Jabberjawing there didn't I?  Point of all that was to say, this was supposed to be the one place in this crazy game folks could go to play ,what most percieved as, more civilally than the MA.  Time to step up and say, we will not play that way. Time to have some integrity and not do what the other guy is doing!  You control what you have control over :rock Yourself and your actions Don't worry about the other guy, just make him pay for his insolence :airplane:

good post notch! well said!

as for ganging, its up to individuals to join in or stay out. i usually stay out, but when i do, the clown getting ganged usually comes after me, so he deserves what he gets.

That's all I was asking.  Now that I know it's a Marquis of Queensbury style arena, I know it's not my scene, and I'll not inflict myself on it unless that's what I'm in the mood for.

I just was saying there should be mentioned somewhere like the MOTD or when orders get posted to mention the playstyle that is expected so people won't get bent out of shape.  Granted some won't read it but some will.

If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

Well, The AvA is all about realism, And even tho everyone here likes a fair 1v1 fight, Thats not really how world war 2 went down.

Like Meo was complaining it was "5 vs 1".  sure, everyone usually hates getting stuck in that situation, But world war 2 wasent really a fair even sided battle. I'd be a bit turned away from the arena if it went by the MA standards.

My only Gripe with the AvA is that sometimes when its an objective operation, People will completely forget about doing the objective, and simply turn the place into the DA, Doing nothing but furballing.(Saw it with operation husky and the invasion of leningrad)
its peoples $14.95. But if your going to play in an objective based arena, why not actually try to fufill the objective?

<S> to all operation downfall tho. its going pretty fun.  Nagasaki's got some brutal flak btw  :lol

I am member of VMF-222, but I speak for only myself.

We saw the notice last week of the impending battle in the AVA, posted it on our boards, and discussed our participation.  The conversation was about, "this looks like fun", never did anone say, "hey lets go in there with our uberness and roll bases and win this war".  It did look like there was a general plan and we thought that too looked like fun.

On Friday we had about 8 of us logged into the AVA.  We flew as a squad.  We attacked bases, killed enemy aircraft, covered each other and attempted to land safely, rearm, and go to battle again, as a squad.  Frankly, we were in heaven.  The setup was brillant as we could choose whick F4U aircraft type we wanted from the multitude of carriers.  We got to fly our squads historical aircraft at will and engage with aircraft from the enemy of a proper type.  We were tasked with missions that were, or could have been historically accurate.  We were having a ball.  Normally, Friday nights, would have found us in the FSO but it was an off week.  As we chatted the general conversation was lauding the gameplay we had found and many expressed the desire to play here at least untill the scenario changed.

And then...............

The griefing started.  Ironically the opening statement was "Don't bring that main arena BS into here, you guys ............................. ........................ and I'm better than any of of you because you guys......................... ............................. .you guys wont fight me fair because you guys......................... ................(ad infinitum).

Wow.  Seriously took me by surprise.  Thank you to the many arena regulars that supported our gameplay and reminded this individual that we were following the scenario set up and others were having fun too.  Nothing would stop him.

Saturday evening.  We log in again, same thing.

Sunday, I played in the main, wishing I could have been having fun in the AVA.

Thank you gentelmen. <S>
