P47D-40 Flap Issue
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:57:54 AM »
Last night I was flying a D-40 and during the course of a dog fight I lost my left flap. I had my flaps extended (not sure how much, I just know they were down since I was low, slow, and turning) when it got shot off. After the fight was over, I was RTB and noticed that after raising my right flap, my plane wanted to do nothing more than roll right. I couldn't get it to go faster than 200mph on the deck since I was wrestling with it to keep it level.

My question is, and it might not even be a bug but it's never happened before, is it possible that when the flap was shot off, was it still acting as if it were there in the down position? I've lost flaps before but never noticed it be a huge hindrance on the airflow over the plane. I don't have a film and not sure if I'll be able to recreate the same scenario or it just might have been a freak incident, if it is a bug at all.

It's not a bug. That's the way flap damage is modeled. It looks like you lost the flap but it's still there and it's stuck in the position it was in when it was damaged.

Happens all the time, I call it the "Flap Glitch" and have expressed irritaion over it for a long time .
They always fall off and are clearly seen falling off and yet they still affect your aircraft  :furious.
We have to wait for HTC to update all the 3D models to have it look right .
