Keypress delayed in game
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:27:14 PM »
Win7 just installed a boat load of updates "for me" this week and since then I've noticed two things.

First, there can often be a huge lag from the time i press a key or a mapped button on my stick and the time the game reacts to it.  Not only has this made typing in the text buffer difficult, but it is affecting all of the functions I have mapped to my X52.  For example, I'll pull the trigger and the game will continue to fire for a full 3-4 seconds.

Secondly, I have an issue where my TrackIR loses it's hot keys.  I am unable to center or pause in or out of game, it's like it forgets.  What is interesting is that the problem only arises when im in AH. It won't appear until then.

Please provide:

  • hardware specs
  • Win 7 version info (home, pro, ultimate, 32-bit, 64-bit)
  • type of usb connection (mobo, unpowered hub, powered hub)
  • how many processes are running right after you boot, before anything else is started?

I haven't found the cause, at least not directly.  I have, however, found that it has something to do with "Game Booster 3."  It has a feature that will reduce the CPU priority on "unnecessary" processes. I dissabled this and it has resolved itself.  I'd like to know what processes affect the "keyboard" though because AH functions much better with this feature on.

if you want to optimize windows performance for gaming, it's best to do it manually by disabling unecessary services. what version of windows are you running?

I'm running Win 7. I have a lot of processes shut off manually already, but there are a bunch more that I need everyday that I have the software setup to shut down temporarily while i play.
