what tests have you run to determine where the problem may be originating?

none really. what tests can i run? im not very much of a computer-whizz.

All i know is i usually have to restart the comp, then that fix's it.

there's one clue right there, it's not the game or the servers. it's at least partially something on your computer...you using a wireless connection? all power management on the network adapter disabled?

neg. wired.

If it means anything, i downloaded that new version of AVG protection 3 weeks ago. Whenever i go to open the game, it always pops up a msg asking me if i want to allow the game through all-some-none of my firewalls. I usually choose alll.

uninstall that avg package...come on tyrannis, you're not as dazed and confused as 1nicolas are you? after you get rid of the avg junk, download and install wise registry cleaner and do a "safe scan" then have it remove all of the invalid entries it finds and shows as safe to remove (marked in green).

i know you're not using safe internet practices so you obviously need an anti-virus program...get the latest version of avast free. at least you can disable the active scanners before you start ah and it won't interfere with the game. the advanced settings are very easy to setup too.

you obviously have something else going on with your system besides the avg interference but in order to find it, you have to eliminate the most obvious things first.

AVG has turned into a virus all on its own.  It has reached the same level of intrusiveness as Norton and McAfee have.  It will create random problems on your computer for many things.

I've heard Avast! is good, and it worked for me quite some time. Not bad for being free.

If you can afford to pay, Kaspersky is similar to Avast, but a little bit fancier and possibly more reliable.
I got 8 months or so free when I got my laptop earlier this year. It worked quite well imho.
