I was going to post this in Penguins rocket thread so he could get some ideas, but found it too awesome to waste it there.

What a shame that it's over.  It allowed such advancements in technology, and was an indellible credit to humanity's achievements.

Here's something similar from the Apollo program.

A fitting requiem to the glory days of NASA and the space program. The US government chose mediocrity and castrated NASA into a paper agency.
American astronauts will now fly to space on Russian rockets to be greeted by the Chinese that already arrived there on their own rockets - but who still keeps score on the space race?
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

Exactly, astronauts work on the International Space Station, so who cares where the crew members are from?  They're all people who want to know more about the universe, that's what matters in the end.  Yes, it sounds sappy, and many of you who like to speak softly and carry a big stick will soon counter, but that's the nature of the mission.  Either get along, or get the boot.
