My kid brother DWShrddr just saved my life.
We were eating and a piece of bread got lodged in my throat. I stood up and went to the kitchen sink to try to throw up. When I realized that I needed help, I signaled for the Heimlich Maneuver. He immediately came to my rescue and grabbed me from behind and felt my feet be lifted from the ground as he bear hugged me. I expelled that piece of bread.
I remember my 1 year old nephew becoming really scared at the commotion. My family calmed him down.
I had to lay down for 30 minutes to regain my strength. My body ached all over. My family told me I was quite pale for several minutes and contemplated sending me to the ER. I told them I was recovering and just needed some rest.
Over 90 minutes later, I still feel some pain in my body but it's slowly ebbing away.
To my brother, Eric, thank you for saving my life.
A few years earlier, my dad had to do the same thing for me, but that's another story.
