I have flown both the Yak-3 and the P-51 in real life.  I personally like the Yak better.  Mind you the Yak I flew had an Allison in it, and the gear was a pain in the butt, but I did like it better than the P-51.  I also never got above about 10000 feet where the 51 really shined, and the Yak was built for.  I will be voting for the Yak.

I don't know about the yellow on the tail, but it seems pretty standard fare. Even the tail isn't out of ordinary, I just don't know if the markings are historical or just made up.

It's nothing we don't see already, by the way. If you flew the Yaks much you'd notice that :P

If those pictures Krusty posted are not a reason to vote yak I don't know what is? Hitech needs to lock Waffle in a room for a few weeks and perform his 3d magic on the whole yak line up, the latest 3D models are ridiculously good can't wait to see how the Yaks turn out.

It will have the same speed and cannon load as a yak9u, will turn 10% tighter than a 109G6, and have a fuel duration in the 27-28 minute range based on 2x fuel burn in the MAs.

IMO it's one of those that really doesn't fill much of a need. Nice, yes. Rounds out the planeset a bit, yet. Will it see much use? No more so than the sporadic Yak9U use we already see. Honestly, how often do you see a Yak in-game?

Used to see them fairly regularly. I always enjoyed seeing them, not too hot in the verticle preformance  :airplane:.

Now that you mention it... I do recall they used to have a minor presence, but a noticable one. Over a year back. Then they kind of fell out of favor. I suppose that's just the whimsy of the LWA environment? All rides wax and wane in popularity.

Seems to be so. They WERE more common back about a year, year and a half ago. They seemed to be kind of a niche aircraft, IMO.  Fairly fast, particularly on the deck, yet with good manuverability. If I had to guess, most of the crowd drifted towards planes closer to one end of the spectrum or the other.

Kind of reminds me of the 110G. They were really popular for missions about 2-3 years back, then they kind of went through a period of relative disuse, and their numbers were starting to recover when I left.

I don't think there were any green and black Yak3s. Everything was grey by then.

Its russian and the russki kommunists ruined my country, killed my greatfather, and brought the other one to the gulag for 10 years.

Btw. is it just me or it really looks like an la with a piston engine?

If we allowed misdeeds by the nations that built and used these things to bar us from flying the simulated ones, are there any that we'd be allowed to use with a clean conscience?

I can certainly understand your personal preferences in regards to that, though.
