I-16 Flap issue
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:48:07 PM »
Had one notch of flaps deployed in the I-16, when it got shot off in a fight, however the aircraft became horrible unstable as I was unable to raise the opposite flap (not sure if this can be done or not??)

With 1 flap missing the other was stuck 1 notch down unable to raise at any speed.

Maybe because the I-16s ailerons were the flaps? You lost the aileron too? Or maybe the aileron jammed with the flap setting?

Also, the I16s flaps are either up or down. There is no "second notch".

Besides, I'm sure you know how the flap damage model works.

It's not a bug it's how the flaps work. The game shows the flap gone graphically, but it acts as if the flap is stuck in the down position.

That is a bug.  No one in their right mind would program a flap to go missing and yet still have it's full effect on the aircraft  :)
Surely the wing, missing the flap, would lose lift not keep it.

It's not a bug it's an old damage modeling decision. I expect that will change when the damage model is updated.

It is changing, plane by plane as they are updated. Notice B-25 flaps are still "there" -- just shredded.
