I don't know... enclosed cockpit, optional auxiliary power/heat generators, doors and windows...  seems definetley more like the Russian luxury bomber/transport.

If you want the real Russian's bomber, one built to be tough but without any of the bells, whistles an compforting luxuries of the western world, then go for the TB-3 (ANT-6) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_TB-3

The TB-3 would be the most pointless dog turd in the MA ever.

130 MPH at 10k?!?  A 246 ft/min ROC?!

But wait, those 7.62mm defensive guns with their 63 round drums would add some punch.  And, 8 days later, assuming no one else is in the arena to put you out of your misery, you reach the target to drop less ords than a lot of fighters carry.

Pass.

I would kill to have some Russian bombers.  :bhead  :bhead

But, more importantly, would you die (like, a lot)?

Not gonna lie, I think it would be as fun (and valuable) to have in the LWMAs as the IJ Kates and Vals.  It's only "valuable" purpose in AH is when we need a plane to stick those "I fly Russian only" dweebs that are really "I fly La7s (aka: the biggest crutch below 7k) only" dweebs in to really see their "skills".

I would take both the TB-3 and the Tupolev SB up in the MA's for kicks.  Much like I take the G4M1 up from time to time.  I mean, it's there, so why the ell not? :D  Scenario and FSO wise though, these 2 planes would have very limited use and it would be restricted to the first parts of Operation Barbarossa.  The Winter War (Not the Continuation War) would see a bit more use, providing the planes are there.  More of the earlier planes that is.  Stuff like the J8A (I believe this is the Gloster Gladiator or Gauntlet), G.50 and what-not.  While the TB-3 would still suffer, the Tupolev SB may stand some what of a chance.

They meet the criteria to be added, so I don't see why they wouldn't be added.  More planes like these means we could run a more proper Winter War, if we run one at all that is.  I think it would be neat to do a Spanish Civil War FSO/Scenario and a Winter War FSO/Scenario. :aok  I will admit that the Russians and Italians are in DIRE need of bombers for the MW/LW arena's first though. :aok

Much like I take the G4M1 up from time to time.
The G4M1, and B5N2 and D3A1, are all superbly capable in comparison to the TB-3.

Compare the speeds and climb rates for example.  The G4M is literally twice as fast with a climb rate something like five times as fast.

I don't need to make comparison's between the TB-3 and our current lineup. :)  I know that it's so slow that you would actually go BACK in time while in one; climbs like a rock that's rolling down a hill; and is such an easy, fat target, that your chances of flying into the ground and MISSING are greater than to MISS a TB-3. :aok  However, this would NOT stop me from flying one around in the MA's. :x

I know that there are other planes that we need sooner.  Italy and Russia lack ANY bombers of their own.  England lacks any proper EW - MW bombers (aside from the Boston).  Japan and Germany could do with more bombers, period.  The ONLY Country not hurting for bombers is the US, though they could do with some earlier versions of what we have now. :)  I don't even want to go down the Fighter Route... :bhead

Now to get back on track, which variant of the Li-2 would we get exactly?  Am I to assume (according to wiki) that it would be the Li-2VV?

Well, as the title says, I don't think you can get much poorer than the TB-3 and the lucky pilot tasked to fly one... but, there's probabley a reason why they adapted the C-47 (Li-2), and furthermore maybe why it prooved to be viable in that role for them.
