Not yours, just some comments on the forums about that window and excessive concern about how easy it would be to pull lead on a target, comparisons to F3 mode, etc.

I don't understand what you mean about "what there is" when the bay doors are closed.  The low front glass panel swings open and shut.  That's all there is to it. 
The cockpit floor has a glass panel aft of that swinging front panel.  You can see thru where the bay doors would be.  "Perfectly" aligned is no problem, people do that all the time when lining up their shots e.g. in fighters with the worse cockpit bars.  Doesn't help "at all" is exaggerated - it's at least a leg up on everyone else's SA.  It'll make a major difference for me.  It's a glass cockpit, literally.

Leading bombers will be a piece of cake with this.  And 103/BK5's reach.

That's what I meant by "what is there?" -- thanks for the clarification.

Like you mention, though, this would only be helpful in certain loadouts, and if the bomb bay has at least 1 bomb in it (in AH an empty bomb bay doesn't open).

Only true if it started empty.  If it had bombs in it at the start of the sortie, the bomb bay doors will always work.

There is a drag penalty to having bomb bay doors open.

Are you sure? I seem to recall some problems with the Ju88 after dropping my bombs, but it has been a while and I could be wrong. I knew about starting empty, but I thought there was an issue opening them up after you were done, as well.

Yes you only get the "plane has no bay doors" message if you spawned empty.
