The supply idea has been around alot. Delerium seems to like it as well.

The problem with supply ships, or extra fleets for that matter is all the extra data that must be update very often to plot the locations of the fleets. From what I have read here before it is high enough to become a real problem. That's why the number of fleets allowed on maps is as low as it is.

It would also be a strong reason to add the BEAUFIGHTER  :D

Hijack mode off.    I reason it would be very hard to hide a CV if you had that trail behind you.

Yet they used to have trains all over the countryside.

Trains were on a set course with set timing. They always went to the same point. For cv's they would have to travel to a point the cv wasn't s yet.

I don't think this would be a practical "solution" in context of this thread's topic.

But beyond that I do very much like your general idea of  supply ships steaming to the fleet in regular intervals. Apart from being helpful in reconnaissance for the enemy fleet, they could make great additional targets and add another variety to the gameplay.

It would also be quite realistic.

My grandfather was on a tanker in the South Pacific.  USS Monongahela (AO-42) 10 battle stars

He has told me on more than one occasion that he felt safer when caught up in battle when with the entire fleet than when they were alone, steaming to resupply the fleet or when sent away deliberately, due to an upcoming battle.  When they were served steak & eggs for breakfast, they knew the doo-doo was going to hit the fan.

He said that the worst was when they were alone, with only a small escort (and their own guns) to protect them.

With a max speed of 16.5 knots, carrying max load of 133,000 barrels of a variety of different fuels, it took them almost 5 miles to do a complete about-face to head the opposite direction, so maneuvering during battle was all but useless.

When not with the main fleet and in a small group, they were nearly invisible to spot but if spotted, it made for a long day..

Because the A5 is a pretty good at turn fighting.

correction:   it's pretty good at angles fighting, big difference  :aok

and in no way shape or form does it come close to a F4U4, so your point is moot either way

^-- this. Doc, the standard F4Us are easy mode turn planes since their remodel, but the -4 is the super easy model. It is the spit16 if other F4Us are spit5's....

turns out to be veteran players hiding CV's for the knits, and berating me for trying to put them in action.    something should be done about it, these CVs have been hidden behind the continent for days.    it's not noobs doing it either.    pathetic.

It amazes me that HTC continues to ignore this practice that is massively unpopular. Oh wait.  Scratch that, I'm not amazed.

It might be a coding issue.

Ya wanna hear "harsh" words???

Go try to re-route those CVs to another area of the map, then you'll hear some harsh words.

The only reason I can think of to have a high rank is to take command of a hidden cv and send it back to the fight. Oh the shrieking of the ninnies would be priceless. You probably get people cussing you out on vox... I might play for rank this month for once!
