So, theoretically, you could map the min, and max, as "button" presses, but then leave the middle unmapped.
Assuming you have nothing else mapped, you could use a throttle lever to do whatever those actions were. Be it, say, trim up or down (if you prefer it this way instead of as a slider), or say, flaps up or down, and so forth. You can simulate a lever movement even though the game registers it as a button.
It's purely for our own choice and lends a bit of option to those with very specific interests in how they map their HOTAS setups.
