WW2OL and US forces
« on: November 03, 2011, 07:38:36 PM »
Got an email from CRS about them starting an US/German campaign about the Normandy invasion and the breakout afterwards. Might be fun to try but then again I seem to be a little short on spare time lately

i believe he still is.  he's the main reason the FM is the joke it is in that game.

That's a dang shame that one individual can screw it up on so many levels and still have an influence...kinda like Wild Bill.

How did doc screw things up? Played WWIIOL for a bit before moving to AH, but didn't have time to get into the community gosip.

The flight model was decent at one point EARLY in the process then it got screwed up by the devs and doc was the leader of the pack.

If you've been a subscriber before you should be getting a free play option during the mini-campaign that will introduce the US forces. Its a D-Day scenario.

Their FM may be crap but then again, one plays that game for the ground combat not the air. :)

FM was crap, yes. But it was still fun to tear up Hawk-75's and Spitfires in the 190A-4.

And are they adding a US army branch, or just using existing stuff?

This will probably finish off WW2OL for good if it holds up to what they are claiming.

They should have gotten rid of Doc along time ago.

Looks promising.

However it seems to be that the game is set up to be a clone of battlefield series where its all just a set of separate maps running in real time and overlaid in a strategic map.

in short, LIKE WW2OL except you cant drive/fly the terrain between where 'maps' are located.

If you see the description of how air assets are 'sent' to support a battle it says the general creates an air mission which lets them spawn in the map...just like BF spawning inside the map area sort of thing.

If thats the case then I don't think ww2ol has something to worry about. If not then.. yes they'd better rush to update their graphics.

No, WW2Ol has everything to worry about. The Rats gave up on the air war in the game and started catering to the insta action ground players. If Heroes and Generals is a hit, it will draw away alot of players from the ground war in WW2OL and pretty much kill off thier player base.

Well, if they stick with the ground war, I think they have a pretty good shot.
