Sound problem
« on: November 06, 2011, 12:07:55 AM »
I get the engine and everything going. I hit the guns and the sounds (engine especially) diminish and slowly return softer than before I hit the guns. I'm wondering if I have something checked wrong. Also, can anyone tell me how to make it so when someone talks on range it doesn't turn the rest of the sounds down as well. it is really annoying.

Sure thing, does the same things happen to you with ALL of your sounds as well?

Sound card or onboard sound?  Using any custom sound packs? Top portion of your Dxdiag might be useful.

In Control Panel open the Sound applet and choose the Communication tab. Check "Do Nothing."
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

i got mine at do nothing, but sounds lower when back i alt tab to desk top and back.  sometimes I lose sound completely, then I must go back to desktop and when I comeback it fixes itself.  typing restv xx wont fix it.

I re-installed AHII, made sure I have native sound drivers, the box "do nothing" was already checked, the sound was set to normal stereo (not cathedral or opera or concert,etc.). I didn't re-install a sound pack, I have gotten a headset that uses 3.5mm plugs instead of usb (bye bye g930  :cry). NOW things work with the exception of when someone uses range channel the sound dims. That has to be the most annoying thing going on now. Flying along and shooting and getting into the game and someone keys up on range and all sound dims out. PPPFFFF

james that is your setting on vox options.  there's a slider that lowers game sounds while on vox.  i have mine all the way down as I want to hear as clear as possible.  some have it all the way up. yours is somewhere in between.

As Gun mentioned, that particular issue (VOX muting sounds) is a setting.

Picture is likely easiest way to hopefully fix this so:

Those sliders are likely the ones you want to mess with to get it how you prefer.  I prefer muted just so I can hear them talking (as displayed in picture), but to hear engines, etc, turn the top one up.
