I really disagree with this statement. A well maintained SAAB is a good car. Not too many car manufacturers could boast about the number of 200K + miles driven cars it still had on the road. That is until GM got ahold of SAAB.
Exactly. 2003 Saab 2.0t uses GM engine, also found in Saturn cars:) Water pump is driven by the balancer shaft chain. Replacement requires special tool, if you don't have it then you'd have to remove lower chain cover. But to get to pump you'd have to drop the subframe, right axle, cat. It's just idiotic design altogether. Come to think of it , any repair I've ever done on any Saab was a nightmare. They not "Tech friendly", i wouldn't be surprised if to change oil on next Saab model would require engine removal.
