There is an easy answer and it's nothing to do with corporate Walmart it's all down to a lazy associate. They replaced the item that was originally there on rollback, changed the price but never replaced the sign topper.

And this is the most likely answer.

You know, Wal Mart isn't nearly as evil as many people would have you believe.  If you listen to the critics you would think that Wal Mart employees are working in a sweatshop for pennies an hour with no benefits.  My wife works for Wal Mart.  She makes a decent hourly rate.  We get our Health Insurance through Wal Mart, there are lots of options and the insurance is pretty good.  We get Dental Insurance.  She has a 401k that the company contributes to.  There is a stock purchase plan that the company matches 10%, that's an instant profit of 10% on every share of stock we buy through the plan (up to a couple thousand dollars or so). She gets 4 weeks of paid vacation, sick pay, personal time which she can use like vacation time on short notice.  She gets an average of 38 hours a week and management is flexible with her schedule, if the kids have an event she can almost always switch her schedule around in such a way that she can attend.  There is a bonus program that is based on her stores performance that pays quarterly and can be several hundred dollars each quarter.

And on top of it all.  Her job is stable, she isn't going to get laid off.

People who slam Wal Mart as a crappy company to work for usually have an agenda of their own or are just repeating something they have heard from someone who has their own agenda.

Just my $0.02 as someone who has been involved with Wal Mart for over 15 years.

My wife and I don't shop there.   Here in Michigan, we support Michigan based businesses as much as possible.

Nothing wrong with that if that's what you choose to do.  K-Mart can use all the help it can get.

I got family that works at walmart.  they dont get a decent wage as they make little more than minimum.  they cant afford the insurance, but to be honest most work insurance has gotten expensive.  I am lucky i only pay 50 bucks a month for health/dental for me and my son at mine.  and I never shop at wallmar, for three reasons, I hate the fricking long azzzz lines, quality is not that great and I dont belive they have the lowest prices for the quality you get.

for example I used to get my tshirts/pants at wall-mart, then I started going to target when I realized that I would pay 1 buck or 2 more for each piece but would last me twice as long, specially for tshirts.

as for the sign, it's pretty funny, but you find signs like that everywhere.  I used to drink amaretto disarono and for weeks at the local supermarket there was a sign for 11 bucks a bottle but at the register they would ring up the right price, I would point out the price on the sign and they would lower it.  that was until the manager was at one of the registers and told me that sale was over for weeks, which I knew, but he gave me the discounted rate anyway but had another employee remove it.  that was the last time I drank amaretto as I wasnt willing to pay 20 bucks for a bottle lol.

i don't have any problems with clothing from walmart lasting as long if not longer than what i buy at other stores. just have to watch the brands like you would anywhere. if you buy certain store brands like george or puritan, then you're getting the low end products. a faded glory shirt from walmart is the same quality as merona shirt from target.

but then i'm cheap and refuse to pay more than reasonable value for clothing. if the label says "assembled in phillipines" or "made in taiwan" the stupid label isn't going to make it more valuable.

I never look at labels as they mean nothing to me.  I will buy one shirt then see how it does after I wash it a couple of times, if it holds up then i go buy more before they get replaced by something else.

Ever smell that smell in a really old hardware store? I mean one thats been around since the 30s or before?. Best smell in the world, Its a musty, metal, grease smell. Hard to describe, but anyone thats ever been in one knows what im talking about. Remember seeing the same guy has been in there as long as youve been alive and knows basically everything there is to know about most anything and has what you need to take care of your problem? The greeting at the door is something like "hey Matt, how did that <insert item here> work out for you, you know the one im talking about you bought it last fall? Your response " Good, thanks Im back because my <insert broken thing here> broke and need some advice on what to do to fix it" " Not a problem, here you go, dont forget one of these, might need it"

Nothing like it in the world! A person that knows you, who you are, and wants to help you out. Doesnt need to be a hardware store, insert shoe store, clothing store, appliance store, newstand or penny candy store etc....

These large chain stores Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes etc have put these guys out of business. Im not a fan of them in any way shape or form.

i know what you mean and it used to be great, but here in the u.s. we pretty much did it to ourselves. anyone who was paying attention from the late 60s through to the 80s saw it happen.

seems some of the younger folks here don't realize back in the 70s kmart was like walmart is now (except for the groceries), jc penney and sears were the big anchor stores at nearly every mall in the country. when "made in the usa" started to cost 50-100% more than "made in thailand", every big chain started switching. that's where walmart got a leg up on the discount department store market, started out with their "made in the usa" advertising campaign and pricing was equal to or less than other chains import goods.

They were called on the carpet for it when folks noticed most was made in china.
