Rudders?
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:46:03 AM »
I was flying this morning and noticed my rudders are not working. I immediately went into options, etc and ensured they had not somehow been deselected. They remained selected and when I pushed on them it showed the X axis, etc moving, yet they do not move in flight.

I then logged out, went into my control panel, selected game controllers and recalibrated them, etc. They worked just fine. Then logged into AH and did the same routine. They are registering but not controlling the rudders. Also, one of my squaddies informed me that his rudders were not working, then after a hop they started working for him. He suggested it was something with the server.

Any thoughts?

Automatic mode switching is on, and you are only setting them up for MODE1 ?

Maybe?

It is for Model 1. So I need to go in there and look for "automatic mode?" I will do that and report back.

Thanks!

Mode1, not model 1. It's in your control mapping where you can see the numbers changing as you press them.

What can happen is you can map a mode, and just that mode, so that your pedals are set up to run as the rudder controls. However, if you map mode1, but switch to mode 2, 3, or 4, you won't get a reaction/response. It won't be mapped even though it's still recognizing the hardware. It just doesn't do anything about it.

There is a checkbox on that screen that says something like: "Automatically choose mode?" or "Automatic mode switch?" (I can't recall which). when this happens you can change out of the mode you want depending if you take a GV, bomber, fighters class of plane.

What type of controller are you using? My CH pedals in the default mapping have the rudder axis assigned to one of the brakes and I had to remap it to get correct function. Also if you use CH you should make sure that you calibrate in the CH Manager software and not the control panel.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Thanks for the help. I have no idea what happened but they now work. I attempted the same fixes a half dozen times, suddenly its back to normal. It was very odd that right before it went back to normal all control surfaces were hyper sensitive and incredibly rapid. In level flight it gave me 'don't move your stick so rapidly' and froze, this right after I hit auto-pilot. It crashed, I recalibrated the joystick and rudders, reupped and it worked perfectly.

Who knows?!
