Good success with Aces High on Linux
« on: November 24, 2011, 12:26:00 PM »
I've been enjoying success with the Aces High Version 2.26.3 on my PcLinuxOs 2011 platform and Wine 1.2.2. I'm using a 3-year-old Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with nVidia G84M [Quadro NVS140M] graphics. Running at 1024x768 resolution with graphics details set mid-range, I'm getting frame rates between 40 and 130 FPS. Configuration was easy: I just downloaded the free Wine 1.2.2 from the PcLinuxOs repository in the usual way and immediately ran Aces High. (Incidentally, I just bought this laptop [used] for U.S. $275.00).

When I use this system to run an older version of Aces High (2.12.4), my framerates are 50% higher.
