Taking a tanktown base requires a few buffs upped from 2 sectors away.

Apparently any mission over 22 minutes is considered "too much" so they just feed the spawn campers a few more tanks.

How bout this. No red square but time to take base is shortened or a V hanger is hardened or a manned ack is indestructible

Bottom line is- and this has been discussed before here- TT Island bases should be made uncapturable until they're needed for one side to win the map.
